New theory I thought up due to the Iverson discussions....

I think Boston may be desensitized to drama queens cause we've done well by them lately. Pedro. Bryan Cox. Ty law. Corey Dillon. Rodney Harrison. KG. Baby till now. Toine for at least a little while and at times. Randy Moss. Some people thought Larry had some drama with some holdouts and cockiness. Bill Walton. Kevin McHale. Ted Williams. Roger at times. Wade Boggs. Parcells. Belichek.
Not to mention nearly every single Boston fan

Maybe it's just me

Then of course there were some that we didn't do too well by such as Pitino

  • Thank you Eddie!
This was also the same town that dealt with and loved Manny for the better part of 8 years along with a CF dressed as a caveman.  Also, don't forget Schilling.  I think we're used to drama queens because they have worked out well more often than not.  Have a TP.

I think pretty much every major sports city has gotten used to "Prima Dona" athletes. Its just a reality of a lot of modern "stars".

I don't see KG as a drama queen though. He has a lot of on court antics, but he never takes it to the press conferences. That's where the act wears on me.

I think you're just listing people with personalties and complaining that we're not complaining that they're not robots. The people that are talking about wanting Iverson are mostly crazies who are overreacting to this first part of the season, but then again, this post is also a complete overreaction. Generalizations like this are useless, frustrating, and I have no time for them.

I don't like primadonnas - but I don't mind personality at all. Most of those guys weren't prima donnas. Manny? yes. But the majority of those guys? Nahhhh.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I think "drama", as such, is just a part of the business of professional sports, and every player, coach, owner, fan, reporter, and other type of person connected with it, is guilty at one time or another, of falling victim to emotional response or action and aformentioned "drama" and ill behavior, albeit to varying levels.

Have we had more than our share in Boston? Most likely so, as it is without question the home to more success in professional sports than any other city in history ... and I think that just comes with the territory, unfortunately. But we are New Englanders, and a hearty group ... I think we can handle a primadonna or two from time-to-time.

If we're a bit desensitized to it, well then we'll just consider that a small payment for all the success we've had. ;)

I should be more clear. I'm not saying these guys are prima donas or drama queens.  Just that it's understandable that some people somewhere maybe think or thought they were at one time or another

Honestly I have no idea where I stand on any of that. I think Iverson is somewhat of a drama boy lately and I still want him.

There are like 2 people on your original list that I would even consider even remotely similar to the AI situation.  And none of them except AW thought he was better he is.  Although, Starbury who you didn’t mention is another one.

Little Fockers 1.5/10
Gulliver's Travels 1/10
Grown Ups -20/10
Tron Legacy 6.5/10

The only part of that I even slightly disagree with is where you say none of them thought they were better than they were. I think a few of them did. And for some of them I think maybe they absolutely are the best (or were), but by how much?  I mean just for example if you were an NFL team would you rather spend $12mill on Belichek or $6mill on Jeff Fisher? Honestly I think it may depend on the situation. If I'm the Raiders, possibly Fisher. If I'm an expansion team probably Belichek. That's just me
