Marcus Camby is probably the closet thing out there to KG that we could get for a reasonable trade. He is a former Defensive player of the year and still gets it done even at his advancing age.  I know he is not the one on one defender that KG is (when healthy), but he is a great weak side shot blocker and team defender. He would give us the insurance we need in case KG gets hurt again.

So here is the trade

BOS Sends: BBD ,Scal, TA + Giddens or Walker

LAC Sends: Camby, Telfair(to make the salary work)

Camby has a very similar offensive game to BBD , he has that 15-18 ft jumper that he can hit on a consistent basis and he is actually a very good passer averaging 3 ast per game this year. BBD would be necessary if we didn't have Sheed and Sheldon, but with them his low post beef isn't needed like it was last year against Howard and Shaq type Centers. Also Camby give us much more length which could come in handy if we meet the Lakers in the Finals.

So who is with me ? Go get Camby Danny!!

Roster

PG: Rondo     /  Telfair
SG: Ray       /  House
SF: PP        / Daniels
PF: KG        / Camby
 C: Perk      / Wallace  / Williams

I've always liked Camby and his game... And I'd love to have him on this team...But thats 5 to 10 years ago. We don't need another 35 year old coming off the bench in our big man rotation.

I am too worried about any Clippers Karma coming this way. Otherwise I would have to say absolutely to this one. Is Mike Dunleavy still involved in personnel decisions?

Why are the Clippers giving up a talented player with an expiring contract for far less talented players with expiring contracts?

because he is 35 years old and BBD would be a good  young backup with playoff experience for Blake Griffin. The Clippers don't want to add salary because next year they will be able to offer a max contract to a free agent. This trade allows them to get younger with BBD + Walker or Giddens while still being able to acquire a franchise type player next year...

Because the Clippers tried to sign Glen Davis when he was a free agent? Or because Bill Walker and JR Giddens are so valuable?

Camby is an expiring contract anyway. The expiring contracts that Boston are giving up have no value for the Clippers. The prospects the Celtics are giving up have little value. There isn't enough in the package to tempt LA.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Since Camby is expiring, I don't see the Clippers doing it, unless they are into Big Baby. I also don't see the Celtics doing it. Camby is getting older and I am not sure we trade all of our expirings for another older center...and I have always loved Camby...

While Camby is advancing in years he has a lot left in his legs. It is kind of like the Grant Hill situation where he suffered many injuries early in his career, but has been relatively healthy over the past 3 season playing 70,79 and 62 games.

Compared to KG he is a pup.

KG career mins played  = 40062 (3rd among active players)

Camby career mins played = 23650 Mins

I think Camby has a lot left in the tank and coming back home to play for a contender would be a really good thing for him, just ask Ray.

Not enough minutes for Camby.  We could get a better deal for our expirings.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

No, please Danny...you have done a masterful job, don't make a mistake now.  Marcus (Boo Boo) Camby is one of the most injury prone big men still hobbling out onto the court (but for how much longer?)  Integrate Glen Davis as soon as he is able, and hopefully he will supply the energy and bulk under the basket that has been missing so far.  Even without his inside presence, this team has a really good record and is still finding its way to the meaning of "team".  KG is still in rehab mode from his knee operation and will get better as the season progresses.  Paul, Rondo and  Perk have been performing well and with a few adjustments will be better.  Ray Allen always seems to come through when it counts, and the new bench (Daniels, Williams and Wallace) is amazing.  I am not in love with the three point shot, but if the slump continues I trust Doc to curtail it.  Even Scal and House have been filling their roles well.  I have become increasingly critical of everyone's game, but looking at the stats after each game I see that I must be concentrating on mistakes rather than the good things that they are doing.  We have only lost three games...we have not blown the season, after all, and we will get better.

I'd love to get Camby and wouldn't even mind eating Telfair's contract. Not sure the Clips would do the deal for the players mentioned, however.
