I think the easy vote is Julian Edelman.

I don't follow the Pats as closely as many on here, but Edelman seems to make plays.

Very very good draft class, we already have vollmer, edelman, and darius butler making contributions. Even seen a few nasty hits from Patrick Chung.

If i had to pick one to say will do the most for this team, i'd say vollmer. Edelman's nice, but we don't really need him until welker or moss leave.

I would even say vollmer's been more impressive the edelman. He flat out stopped dwight freeney a week ago, and thats quite a task.

I agree Edlemen is the easy pick, but I'm going with Butler because I think it's the harder spot to find quality at and harder for a rookie.

I am taking the same pick.  This guy is going to be an all-pro for years to come.

I am not usually one for offensive linemen, but he is making Matt Light pretty dispensible right now- or at least right tackle material. He is also still pretty 'raw', so I only see him getting better. Edelman is good and all, but Vollmer has been the most valuable.

Glad people are mentioning Vollmer.  He impresses me a lot.

I had to mention Edelman in the first post because I created it after watching him claw and shimmy his way for a first down against the Jets.  He is slippery like Welker, which I love.

All in all, this was a great draft for the Pats.

We can call Ron Brace a bust now, right? Cause he seems like the bustiest bust of busts that can be buster right now. His favorite show is Myth Buster, and if he bumps into people on the train they can say "Hey watch the elbows Buster"

Eh, I think less than a year into his career is too early to call him a bust.  I also think he did a decent job last game.

I think Vollmer is clearly the prize of the draft though for the Pats.  He looks like a future All-pro.  I also think Butler and Chung are going to be very good players.

Too early.  People thought Merriweather was a bust after his first year.

Definitely too early to make a call.

Is there another example of a 2nd rounder that played about 8 snaps his rookie year and became good?

I don't think he even dressed for most of the games and the 6th rounder beat him out soundly.  His rookie year is the worst rookie year you could possibly have without being deported for treason

He has played in 7 games, and played a lot last week (and played well).  I think you are going way over the top with this.

Sure, it took injuries to get him in there, but thats no different than a lot of rookies.  Particularly when he is playing behind guys like Wilfork, Warren, Green, and Wright.

The fact that Pryor was playing over him early in the season (whose to say it would still be the case if they were both healthy right now), is saying more about how well Pryor picked up on things than anything negative against Brace.

Anyways, the important thing is that Brace is coming off a very solid game (they held Buffalo to 105 yards rushing, and he had 4 tackles), and we will see how he builds off of that.

I think it is Vollmer right now, I wouldn't be shocked to see either Butler or Chung emerge as the best out of the class after a year or two.

What we did in the second round really bodes well for our team next year. We have a first and three second round picks. I saw a mock draft where we picked Javon Best, Golden Tate and two good pash rushers. This would improve the biggest weakness of the defense and give the Patroits two explosive players on offense.

As for Brace being a BC alum I am rooting for him but I think so far he has to be viewed as the worst of the group. However, the Patriots defensive lineman usually take a little longer to develop, Jarvis Green, Mike Wright and Ty Warren all took some time to reach their potential and are now flourishing.
