just for kicks and giggles, would you turn this down (assuming Tracy passes a thorough medical exam)?

Yes I would.  Based on McGrady's recent track record, even when healthy, I actually think Ray is a better player.  McGrady has deteriorated incredibly fast.

That together with Ray's playoff performance last year, I'd say Ray is the better player at the moment.  And I was as big of a McGrady fan as anyone.  As offensively gifted as he is, when T-Mac is on the court, the ball just doesn't move.

Although more talented overall, I don't know that even if healthy McGrady would be better for the C's.  Ray spreads the floor offensively with his shooting, and although not a great defender, understands the concept of team defense.  I would be too worried that losing Ray and adding would limit our long range game, while duplicating most of what we already have with Pierce.

Yeah, I prefer Ray, too.

Yeah I think I would have to stick with Ray, but that's a tough one.

T Mac is basically a flashier, more injured, version of Paul Pierce.

Why would we want this guy, really?

Why not just sign AI and keep Ray?

This T-Mac guy quit on his team last year. And it's not like the Rockets were a cellar dweller last season, they made the playoffs and actually gave the Lakers a fight.

TMac reminds me of Arenas- their teams always seem better when they are out of the lineup.  Ray is a winner.

Jeff, the title of the thread reads "just for fun".  I don't see how anything about having T-Mac would be fun.  He's made of paper mache held together by boogers.

Guy, did you go to high school with AI or something? Whatever he's sellin', you're buyin'....

Jeff,

I took major grief for a "kooky" idea that landed us Boozer and Kirilenko for Ray. If you don't take serious ribbing for this "fun" idea to land a chucker made of glass for one who isn't, i'm gonna know what i've always suspected: that you're favored around these parts because you're the Prez.

Trade them TA and JR, with the stipulations of them buying him out for their combined salary.

That way the Rockets get his 23 million coming off the books, but have two players two add to their rotation. Despite what they may think... the Rockets are a team in rebuilding. Yao might as well be dead, TMAC is a load of cap space with a uniform, and Ariza is not a star.

You'd be taking a huge chance on this one but if Danny did it I could see why. McGrady when Healthy is a top 10 player.

I can't think of anything fun about the prospect of Tracy McGrady wearing Celtic green.

Nobody should trade talent for McGrady until he proves what level he can play at following this latest injury absence.
