(note: I'm a huge Antoine Walker fan, so please hold back the death threats)

Has there ever been a player whose fan's blindly support as much as Antoine's?

No matter how out of shape he is, how many bad shots he takes, regardless of how old he is... nothing is ever his fault. It's like Pierce and Ainge and everyone else just framed him to take the fall for something.

And he's always working on making a comeback, and it would always be a good decision for us to sign him.

I would love to see Antoine wearing number 8 again, and i'd love to see him around the Celtic's... but it's just not practical, and i understand that.

Any feelings on this?

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I think that it's pretty common for die hard fans of a bad team (at the time) to latch on to one player and devoted undying unwaivering loyalty.

For instance, I have an Al Jefferson jersey pinned up on my wall, right next to the first foam finger I ever bought at the garden and right below a Larry Bird jersey I owned in sixth grade.

like that is always lethal." - Evan 'The God' Turner

Can someone explain to me the controversy with him being traded. And the whole thing that makes Ainge two faced and Pierce a dirty liar?

Bring back Toine so he can take some of Sheed's 3's for him.

Bring back Toine so he can take some of Sheed's 3's for him.

Judging by his shooting percentage from behind the line on pro's vs. joes and the amount of cheeseburgers he's ingested, this may not be as much of a wash as you think.

I'm realitivly sure i could out shoot toine right now, he almost air balled it three times.

You can make fun of Toine for his Pros VS Joes appearance, but he was the only guy who was playing basketball and having fun.

He was the only pro who won his challenge and he also made some 3's and he didn't flip out on nobodies like Zo did and did much more than Horry's one freaking FT.

Biggest thing of all, Toine was having fun, playing basketball.

That's the biggest reason why I want to see him back in green, he can joke with Scal on the bench for all I care. Antoine not in Celtic green just doesn't seem right.

The Antoine ship sailed last year when no one signed him. I am still a huge fan of 'toine and I always have been. I grew up watching him play and he was the face of the franchise for a long time. When most people on here grew up watching guys like Bird, Havlicek, Russell, etc., us kids in the late 90s got to witness the great Antoine Walker. Weren't we lucky...

I have fond memories of Toine in green..I remember how him and Pierce almost upset NJ back in 2002-2003 in Conference finals.

Yeah he was a "Volume Shooter", but him and Pierce had the green light to shoot. It did seem with Toine, though that he took a few more shots to get his points, sometimes.

He did in fact improve his shot selection and % under Doc Rivers, though. That was right before he left for Miami because of the emergence of Al Jefferson.

When Toine was "on" I don't think there was a player in NBA that could stop him..I remember him lighting up the Wizards one time for 49 pts, in Washington.

As for him back in Green? Of course I would. Of course it would have to be with conditions.

Right now our roster is set, though.

Bring him back as the team mascot and for corporate charity work.

Other than that his playing days are well behind him. I appreciate what he did for helping bring the Celtics up from the bottom of the league and am forever greatful for that 2002 playoff run. That was a lot of fun even for this old codger who grew up watching Cowens, Havlicek, and Jo Jo White.

Antoine loved Red. I can't speak for Red but there was genuine affection when 'Toine made his debut return to the garden.

And his unbelievable off-balance 3-pointer to beat the Lakers in LA...I still remember that clearly 8 years later.
