Allen Iverson has told associates he is prepared to come to the New York Knicks.

"We wouldn't be considering it if we thought we were functioning well and we're not," Walsh said of the Knicks, who went into last night's game against the Pacers with a 1-9 record. "And I want to make sure if we do something like this it's the right thing to do."

Walsh said if the Knicks do offer Iverson a contract it will likely be for the $1.4 million veteran's minimum.

I guess we can finally put an end to the AI/Boston rumors. :)

AI has told associates he is prepared to go to every team except the Grizz. Means nothing. It's from a NY newspaper.

I love this part:

"We wouldn't be considering it if we thought we were functioning well and we're not," Walsh said of the Knicks

So, in other words, if we were a real NBA team worried about stuff like winning and developing talent, we wouldn't let this guy in the city, never mind the locker room. BUT, since we are a pathetic excuse for a team that can't possibly get any worse, we'll add Iverson to keep people coming in the door. This also allows us to tank the rest of the season while trying to make Eddie Curry look like a real player before the deadline so we can simultaneously trade Curry to some patsy for salary relief to sign LeBron and Bosh while being bad enough to land a top four NBA Draft pick.

Then let's go after Duhon.

LOL if the knicks do this, and if iverson does this. I mean he should be going after a ring. I will stand up for him if he came to boston and said yeah i want to win a ring and what not. But this just proves to me what Iverson really wants.

Me too. Or we can wait for the Knicks to buy him out and sign him for a vet min.

You think they would just buy him out? I'm not sure about that.

I like it too.  Just the other day AI said he was willing to come off the bench for a contender.  I guess he really doesn't care about winning anymore.  He used to care about winning.

I don't know why the Knicks didn't sign him in the first place.  He will excite the fans a bit, he will put up ungodly stats, and most importantly, why the hell not?  Are they really trying to groom Duhon or Robinson for the future?

Right now, their goal should be putting an entertaining product on the floor, and hoping they can somehow convince an elite player or two to join their abomination of a team next summer.

Oh yeah, and I have AI on my fantasy team, and if he joins the Knicks, it will make the reach worth it.

You mean the unprotected first rounder that they already traded?
