Early in preseason they were saying that KG would have to improve his conditioning and strengthen his knee, that does seem to be the case. He seems to get tired earlier, and he isn't finishing certain plays with the dunks that he would have in the past. Right now we're 11 games in and our record stands at 8 wins, 3 losses. After 11 games KG is averaging 13.6 points on 51% shooting, 7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. His scoring and rebounding haven't been this low since his rookie season. So far he is shooting more jump shots, and has been less involved on the offensive boards.

Personally I feel it's a solid start for him since he's coming of surgery. It seems like he is still trying to figure out what he is and isn't capable of doing on the court right now. How do you guys feel about his play?

Put me down as worried, TBH, he seems to be regressing to me.  He looked fantastic in the first three games, but I've got a feeling he'll be catching a few DNPs coming up  :-\

Just one man's opinion...

it looks like he has not gotten his legs back yet....he actually looked better during some pre-season games for example the one against the raptors...i just need him to rebound better...The game against the hawks...he looked real hesitant, even to post him mike Bibby :-\...we will see what happens....i believe he will come around...

I haven't been that impressed, he had some games where his shot was really on, but he's definitely regressed.

His rebounding overall is down, but KG hasn't really hit the offensive glass all too much while in Boston. Its the fact that his defensive rebounding rate has decreased signifigantly that's worrying to me.

Still considering he's coming off a major injury I'm hopeful that he'll round into shape after a few months.

I agree that he needs to get back to where he can hit the glass harder.  Scoring, passing, defense, etc. seems solid.  Rebounding is where his game is off the most.  I don't know what the cause of this would be exactly, but I hope it's a matter of timing and game shape which should be nearly back by now if it's going to come back.  There is no way it has anything to do with effort.

Rebounding rate is usually corelated to athleticism. I think KG's just lost some of his lift and quick jumping ability. Hopefully some will come back, all of it probably wont.

I think another part of it is conditioning. He usually has something like 4 boards in the first half or quarter and then it goes down hill from their. This year you see him huffing and puffing, as tommy would say, a lot more.

As for the offensive boards, he's not getting the offensive boards because he's simply not there to get them. If feels like he's shooting more from 18 feet and less from inside.

He looks good for coming off surgery.  I wouldn't judge him or his game until after January.  His scoring is going to be down no matter how you cut it with this team, everyones scoring should decrease since pretty much everyone who will hit the floor is going to score.  His lateral speed which should take the longest to return is what we need him for HIS DEFENSE.  His rebounding will come (defensive) his offensive boards will really depend on the flow of offense and where he is in relation to rebounds.
I am not worried about getting the best record ever, ease KG into it, rest PP if he's banged up, this team jelled is going to be something to see

Worried. Looks like an average PF now, offensively and defensively.

Right now he's shooting the same percantage of jumpshots he did 2 years ago, although his accuracy is worse this year. I think he just needs time.

As the team stands now, we wont win a title without KG being very good in the playoffs. He's nowhere near that point now. Knee injuries are tricky things but hopefully he will be stronger by year end. I didnt expect to see as much of him this early so hopefully that is a good sign.

I agree with your personal assessment, that he's off to a solid start and feeling his way back.

He still looks uncomfortable on the floor. Fingers crossed he'll become 90% of the threat he was previously down low on both ends of the floor -- we'll need it for the team to be a contender. All the standing around and chucking is concerning.

I agree offensively, for sure. but If what he's doing on defense right now passed for average, teams would score 10 points less a game.

He's not rebounding well but his pick and roll and post defense have been fine.
