can't underestimate how badly Eddie has been effecting the team. His last 5 games have been awful. He is really bringing the 2nd unit down. If he isn't hitting shots what does he give you.

Missed shots and bad defense, that's about it. If he keeps this up much longer, I'd like to see Lester get a legit shot for 10 minutes a game. Chances of that happening aren't too good, though.

Terrible 3 pt defense allowing them to light us up from 3 Shooting poorly ourselves from 3
Too much iso offense  
Someone from their bench went off and
Comeback jeopardized with questionable shot selection and/or turnovers
Gave up key offensive rebounds
Josh Smith had a blockfest

I bet I got at least half of these right.
This team is becoming predictable. Time for the coaches to start thinking outside the box and try some new things. The point of the season is to get better not fall into bad habits that become ingrained by repeatedly making the same mistakes.

The refs definitely didn't help, but that is never the singular reason why a team loses...

I know everyone wants to attack Rondo, but the two main reasons they lost tonight was their lack of effort on the defensive boards and their three point shooting. If they were even average in either of these categories, Rondo's game would have looked just fine.

Seriously, there was a lack of effort and a lack of execution tonight. I know Rondo hasn't been spectacular lately, but this one was hardly his 'fault'.

Yes, but the games in which Rondo ATTACKS, are usually Blow Outs-!!

So if this is case, why didn't Rondo attack more? he could have blown by Bibby easily? Or was this a coaching thing?

I say it's a coaching thing when he walks it up.. He does it 90% of the time and people think I'm stupid when I say Doc tells him to walk it up and hand it off. That's Doc's offensive system.

It drives me insane when that happens.

I agree, I would love to see him hurry it up the court more. I don't think this team, as currently assembled, is the kind to run and get easy baskets. They are older and don't want to tire themselves out. I am sure it is a coaching thing. When Rondo had more leeway in the playoffs last year, he was great, but that was when he was dominating the ball and I just don't think that is in the gameplan right now.

As for Rondo's free throw problems, I would say it lies more in the amount he has taken than his actual percentage (which will obviously improve). He has gotten a number of easy lay-ups this year, though. It's as if the other team doesn't have time to foul him.

I saw a team that just went through the motions tonight.  There was no extra effort, no hustle.  I wonder if maybe they let the refs get to them - it seemed like whenever they would start to go on a run, a call would go against them and they'd waste more energy being angry at the refs than playing their game.  It did seem like the refs called an extremely poor game on both sides, missing blatant calls at one end while calling touch - or phantom - fouls at the other.  They can't let that get to them, however, and tonight the Hawks were the mentally tougher team.  Credit to them for the win.

We played like am bunch of women out there. Until this team gets it's heart in the right place we ARE IN TROUBLE.

That said - Coach Cowens and Red Hobbs had the best points out there. That said, I am considering driving from Wichita to Indianapolis to wirebrush the Celtics collective arses if and when I can shake off the Vin Baker disease.

Because that's a pretty accurate summary based on what I watched.

Defense was putrid, and it has been putrid for a while, but the entire nation seems to have been missing the memo.

The opposing teams have shot .450 or better in 4 of the 5 last games against us.

Consequently, we're the quite pedestrian, but very expected 3-2 in those games.

No I didn't. These are recurring problems I notice in our close wins and losses so I assumed the same things happened tonight.

this goes on both the players and the coach. when your players don't hustle its time to pull them. just another example of why Doc is just plain bad at mid game adjustments. oh and what was up with all the jump shots in the 4th quarter?

We got Rondo'd. There were other culprits, but his passivity on offense and defense was a major weakness.

They were beaten by a team with younger legs as well. Al Horford, Zaza, and Josh Smith were too qick and agile for the slower and immobile Celtics' big men. Perkins continues to make these nonsensical, stupid fouls that erase our momentum. Rasheed is useless. Once in a while he might make that 3er of his, but really, he misses most of the time. It seemed they were popping around the court like ping pong balls, while we palyed like old men.

They were playing hard. They were not playing smart. Big Difference there.
