So the rumor according to ESPN is that Eddie Curry is going to be coming back with an eye towards getting him some playing time against the Warriors on the GSW's upcoming visit to Madison Square Garden to try to see if the Warriors would have any interest in Curry.

Golden State is apparently very active trying to make Stephen Jackson's wishes come true with a trade but as of yet can't find what they are looking for which apparently is some younger big men. So if the see Eddie and like what they see the two teams might be looking for a third team with expiring contracts to precipitate a three team trade.

So why not something like this:

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yfa4h5x

Boston sends:

Tony Allen - to NYK
Brian Scalabrine - to NYK
J.R. Giddens - to NYK
Bill Walker - to NYK
2010 First Round Pick - to GSW

Boston receives:

Stephen Jackson
Anthony Morrow

New York sends:

Eddie Curry - to GSW

New York receives:

Tony Allen
Brian Scalabrine
J.R. Giddens
Bill Walker
Devean George

Golden State sends:

Stephen Jackson - to BOS
Anthony Morrow - to BOS
Devean George - to NYK

Golden State receives:

Eddie Curry
2010 First Round Pick
2010 Second Round Pick
2011 Second Round Pick

I love it for the C's, like it for NY, but I don't think its good for GS.  I know they want to unload Jackson, but Curry can be an equally big problem as Jackson.  It seems like its been forever since Curry has contributed anything.

Actually, Curry could get his career back in order in GS as they are thin at Center. I like this deal for all parties.

Curry is about as likely as Mike Sweetney to get his career together.  And Beidrins is one of the best young centers in the league.

This is a stretch at best. Nick why would GS do this? Wouldn't they need something else in return? What else would NY give, if they're not already giving too much? I don't think this is realistic.

That still isn't stopping Golden State from shopping around for another big however.

Actually, take Anthony Morrow out of the deal and it's about as realistic an NBA trade as you are going to see. However, it doesn't work without another small $800K-$1MM salary leaving Golden State.

Now I guess Mikki Moore could be that player but then that limits the trade until after Dec 15th and then what incentive does Boston have to give up a first rounder.

New York is getting the expiring contracts they need to open space for two max level free agents. Golden State is getting a young big with potential and getting out from under Jackson's contract while at the same time getting a first rounder and 2 second rounders. Boston is getting the wing they need and at the same time swallowing a pill they really don't want but will take under the circumstances, that being Jackson's contract. But to take the contract that means they probably won't resign Ray Allen next year and so Anthony Morrow, Ray's replacement is in the deal.

Now maybe instead of 2 second rounders New York throws in this year's 2nd rounder and a 2011 or 2012 first rounder. Maybe those picks make up for the loss of Morrow. Besides, with Ellis, Curry, Watson, Azubuike, and Maggettte Golden State has tons of wings and guards to spare and the picks should easily find a Morrow replacement.

So turn a NY 2nd rounder into a first rounder if you think the deal is unreasonable. I think that sweetens the pot enough and gets this done.

This trade definitely brings some good talent our way.  No doubt about that.

My biggest issue with most of these trades that I see here is that they don't really take into account that we simply don't enough minutes for these players.

With this trade our bench would be:

Marquis, Rasheed, Eddie, Captain Jack, Morrow, Shelden (he clearly would not get any minutes), Big Baby (when he returns).

There is no way we could possibly give those players the minutes they deserve or require in order to keep happy.

Ahh here's the great thing. With this trade, Baby and Eddie become expendable into another trade. Maybe send them to Portland for Steve Blake and a pick. Then the bench becomes Wallace, Williams, Marquis, Jackson, Morrow, Blake and Hudson with roster spots a plenty to sign players bought out of their contracts or current free agents to fill a need. Also, as I mentioned earlier, it sets up nicely for next year if the C's decide they don't want to resign Ray.

Sweetney would not eat for 48 hours if it meant switch places with Curry.

haha!  And after the 48 hour fast, he'd have a LOT more money to spend on food.

I like this trade... except for Jackson's contract because, as you said, it would prevent the C's of re-signing Ray. I would take a 35 years old Ray Allen over a 32 years old Jackson and his big, long, contract.
