Thabeet and Carroll for Perkins and Giddens

I read the title and thought it was an attempt at humor.  Apparently not.

the only appropriate response is to quote Seth and Amy:
" Seriously?!!! Are you serious?!!  Give up one of the best centers in the game who's still improving for an unproven rookie that won't be able to contribute until after the Big 3's window has closed?  Seriously?!!!"

You need to quit watching Nip/Tuck where adding a couple of inches is no big deal and will make your life better.

With Thabeet, we become stronger and younger in the paint defensively for the next 10 years. We get a lot more of respect on the defensive end. Perkins can body up on guys like Howard (Dwight) and Bynum of LAL but with lack of height for two inches or more (against Pau and Bynum) the Celts might be in deep danger when we meet LAL in the Finals. The need for an athletic and quick seven footer has become inevitable.

Our loss against the Suns showed our difficulty in guarding quick big men like Amare (later against Pau and Bynum). Sure, a young Garnett could have easily displayed a lot of fear against Amare but it was clearly evident that our bigs are getting challenged on a higher level of play. Even the Hawks' Horford, Bulls' Noah and Yao disregard our strength inside.

Or better yet, Perkins and Giddens for Thabeet then sign Goran Sutton to add another tall,wide-bodied power forward.

What have you seen in Thabeet's play that makes you think he could cover either Bynum or Gasol?  He got dominated in summer league.  He's getting dominated in the NBA.  He contributes literally nothing on offense, and he fouls at an unbelievable rate on defense.

Thabeet might be an okay player three years from now (although I doubt it), but for this season, Perk is much, much better.

As an aside, I'd be curious to read where you were mocked / criticized for saying that adding Rasheed would be a good idea.

Kobe is a mismatch to either Quisy and Ray Allen. That is evident. He'll have his time shooting over these guys any part of the game on any given game. He wont get covered by any of the 2 guys. He dominates any shooting guard, except maybe Lebron.

Don't take this the wrong way, but this trade proposal is a joke, right?  I mean, I have been as vocal as anyone saying they need to explore trading Perkins (next summer), but this is way over the top.  Thabeet is years away from helping anyone win games (if he ever even gets there), and while Carroll is a decent prospect, he is nowhere near good enough to make up the difference.

It's almost like you know me personally and know my 3 least favorite players out of this draft. Thabeet is years away from contributing. Carroll is not a very good player and I don't understand why Hollins loves him in Memphis: he has no position. 3's fly by him and not big enough to handle 4's. Suton is simply not talented enough for this league. I've never been knocked over by how bad a guy looked in summer league, but he looked out of place in layup lines for the Jazz. They luckily swooped up Wesley Matthews to make up for this horrible draft pick (even in the second round).

Thabeet's upside is Shawn Bradley. No thanks. I love Carroll and think he will be a power 3 that impacts the game much like Reggie Evans does at the 4/5. Just a great energy guy to have coming off your bench. However, as Eja stated, the Grizz need to add a lot more if they want Perk.

Perk actually defends people.  Thabeet looks like he's going to be far closer to a Chris Andersen type than a Dikembe Mutombo type.  No way.  And why take a long term gamble that would waste the title oportunities that we have the next couple of years?

There is absolutely no way I'd give up Perkins for a "project" like Thabeet.

I know what I'm getting with Perk and he fits it well with this veteran-ladden team.  I have no idea what I'm getting with Thabeet although my inclination is to say that its someone with serious "bust" potential.
