lol @ posts like these already. I mean really?

lol at YOU for seeing how many exclamation points there were in the threat tiitle, coming in here, and being a condescending jerk without noticing that the OP wasn't overly-reactive response to one game, but instead an expression of worry over the chinks appearing in our armor.

^NOW that I've gotten angry, this is warranted.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I wasn't trying to "sound like a jerk", rather maybe show that there shouldn't be concerns this early. There's going to be a few bad games and they're happening now. There will be worse games than this. Overall, who cares if they play like crap against the Nets? It's the good games against the Cavs, Magic, Lakers, and Spurs that count.

Celtics were flat.

Celtics were low on energy

Celtics layed an egg.

BUT

The Celtics still won.

This happens to teams all the time in the regular season.  One game does not mean as much.  Especially against a terrible team with a bunch of injuries.

Good teams lose these types of games all the time.  The Celtics still won.

I understand the "there's nothing to see here, move along" approach, but the team has looked pretty bad in four out of its last five games.  Sure, three of those games were wins, but for long stretches of those games, the team appeared listless and lazy.

There are lots of explanations for that -- maybe they're tired, maybe they're not getting up for lesser opponents -- but that doesn't mean that there's nothing worth discussing.  When the energy and effort are noticeably waning after a couple weeks, I think it's fair for people to at least wonder why.

8 games in 12 nights.  That's all it was.  Plus, missing Big Baby.  That extra body would have helped the Celtics get more rest during that grueling stretch, especially by giving rest to KG and Wallace.  Also Daniels being out didn't help the legs of Ray and Paul last night.

This is a veteran team.  This many back to backs so close together has got to wear on them.

Look at it this way.  If you play 8 games in 12 days for the whole season you will finish the season in about 4 months.   The NBA season is 5 and 1/2 months long.   We are not going to have too many 4 games in 5 nights never mind 8 games in 12 nights stretches.   It's just a brutal part of the schedule and it will even out.   We have the best record in the league nothing to worry about for now.

Also I want to mention it's not like they weren't given a 100% last night they just had tired legs.   There is a difference.    Rondo doesn't get 5 steals, KG 13 boards, Pierce taking charges for lack of effort.   They were just front rimming a ton of shots especially KG and Ray.  It happens in a stretch like that.

They have only had 3 count them 3 practices since the start of the season and will now get the chance for back to back practices to right the ship a little.  I'm not worried.

I understand the point of the thread, but it's not the end of the world. The team isn't younge but I dont see them so old that they are going to be too tired to play and compete this year. I believe they might be a little too cocky to be honost. They are not taking the lesser teams too seriously. No other team in the NBA is really impressing anyone so far. LA goes to OT against the Thunder and Rockets, Orl loses to Det, and Clev lost 3 times already. Out of all those teams I would rather have Bostons position than anyone elses. Think about the questions that are going through the heads of clevland fans. Or the LA for that matter. We had a tough stretch of games so far, couple that with a team that knows its good and you will have games that lack intensity. But when they do play one of these teams mentioned above, you will not see "tired" or "lazy". Beating NJ or Minn proves nothing, beating those team makes a statement which they made in a big way opening night.

Not out of gas... I'm pretty sure they haven't practiced during this past week or so. One practice to clean things up it's all it takes. We've gone through stretches similar to this one during the last two years, or have we suddenly forgotten them?

They did run out of gas.  They played 8 games in 12 days.  They won 7 of them.  They have two stretches like this during the season.  The next one is not until March.  If they were not tired, it would be surprising.  Let's see how they look after they get a little rest.

Also remember, in the playoffs, the schedule is not his brutal and both teams play the same amount of minutes in any series.

You'd expect, after this brutal stretch in the schedule, they'd look tired.

You'd also expect, with a team this old, they'd look tired.

I'd certainly not panicing, but I'm not sure we can definitively say that the subpar efforts exerted in recent games are ENTIRELY due to the schedule.  This is an old team, and they've looked the part.

I'm going to wait to see how they respond after a little rest until really making a judgement.

Still, even with this schedule, it's kinda early in the season for tired legs....

No.  I just talked to T. Boone Pickens, he's sending more gas.  Don't worry.
