A trade idea to help the Spurs

Okay, so, being a Spurs fan, I've been thinking of ways to help the team out. I've come up with a trade with the Warriors, which has the Spurs getting Jackson and Biedrins, and the Warriors getting Ginobili, Bonner, Mason, and a future first rounder.

I know what you're thinking. Why would the Warriors make this trade, as it seems way one sided. But the Jackson for Ginobili trade has already been rumored; but just getting Jackson for Ginobili really isn't going to help the Spurs a whole lot; that's why I included Biedrins, which if this trade were to go down, the Warriors would save a ton of money. I don't know the specifics, but it would be a lot, as Biedrins and Jackson have a combined seven years left on their contracts, with high money per year, whereas Ginobili, Mason, and Bonner are all expiring.


The Warriors are obviously getting shafted on the talent aspect. But the team sucks, anyway. Why not try and save money and start over? They have a lot of youthful talent. So it may not be a bad idea to cut some of that salary, so they can sign their young guys. The Spurs are one of the few teams that can make it happen.


As for the Spurs, if they can pull off this deal, I think it makes them fit to compete with the Lakers. The Spurs desperately need some size, and Biedrins is the absolute perfect compliment to play along side Duncan.


I lineup of Parker, Jackson, Jefferson, Duncan, and Biedrins is scary, though their bench would still be thin.

What are your thoughts on this? I understand it is a bit unrealistic from a talent standpoint, but crazier trades have been made (the Gasol trade), especially when it comes down to large amounts of money being saved.

I checked it on RealGm's trade checker, and this trade does go through.

Warriors are getting completely raped in that deal. No way they do that, LOL.

First of all let me say that I hate Don Nelson. Sometimes I wonder if he can cares about his job or the team he's coaching. Anyways, it would be a no brainer for the spurs. The reason I like this trade for the spurs is because of Andris Biedriņš. Spurs could use a strong rebounder, and a 7foot defender. Biendrins also can score in the low post, and especially PnR towards the basket. Stephen Jackson can orchestrate the second unit with Mcdyess, Blair, and Hill.

Besides the financial relieve, GSW doesn't get much back. It's  big question mark. It might take 2 1st round picks to get Stephen Jackson & Andris Biedrins.

Interesting idea, and one that the Spurs would love ... but the Warriors get the short end of that stick, and they would never go for it. TP for your work and courageous promotion of San Antonio.

I think it's a bad trade for both teams. Manu Ginobili is a top 15 player in this league. You can't give up on him at this early stage, not without getting a comparable talent back. It's too large a drop off in top level talent.

Ginobili at his age doesn't fit into the Warriors rebuilding plans. Golden State should get rid of Jax and Biedrins though. Both are long term issues for the club.

I'd love to see the Spurs pull off a trade that'd Timmy some more help in the frontcourt but I don't think the Warriors would go for this and I'm not sure trading Ginobili is a good idea.

I don't know.  The Spurs wouldn't even seem like the Spurs without Manu.  The only reason I would do it if I'm the Spurs is becauese Jackson/Bedrins are far more likely to stay healthy.  But I think the Spurs would be more likely to win a title with a healthy Manu than those two guys.  When he's healthy he's a pretty amazing player.  Unfortunately, he's not 100% very often.
Plus if a bat gets loose, do the Spurs really want to count on Jackson or Beidrins to kill it?

The Spurs value Ginobili and Bonner too much to do this trade. Plus, I might be way off but wasn't Jax a huge problem in San An before he got a ring there?

I think the Warriors would be weary of giving up their future in the middle, Biedrins, for guys on the wrong side of 30, Mason Jr., and a first rounder in the 20-30 range.

The Warriors don't need to make a panic move in order to accomadate Jax, but they obviously can't wait this out the rest of his contract which I believe is 4 more years and way too much $ lol.

Also, what's the need to "improve" the Spurs? Last I checked they're still in title contention when healthy, no?

As per what I've read, they loved Jax in San Antonio.  He left because he wanted to get paid, but he's a guy that from almost all accounts is a phenomenal teammate.

Yeah, I also just read the "reputation" section on his wikipedia page and have discovered he's the "ultimate teammate". I must have been confusing him with somebody else
