Who here thinks Gerald would have been a Serviceable NBA player had he gone to college first?

I do.  Especially since he was committed to Oklahoma State and he would have gotten to play for Eddie Sutton.  He could have learned to play the game.  Too bad.

Not even Eddie and his funny business could have kept Gerald eligible.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

If he wants to pay tuition somewhere and his grades qualify him I guess he can go.  Not sure how community college would work for him

So GG is out of the league already? At least before he left he taught me (and many others I'm sure) a valuable lesson about the follies of dreaming on potential and upside. At least he gave the franchise a famous dunker this decade which is more than I can say for some others.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

I'll tell you where GG may go in a few days. Real Madrid from Spanish League is interested on him, not publicly yet. Ex-Raptor Garbajosa is playing there and the coach of the team is the italian Ettore Messina. Get your passport Gerald!

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
All joking aside, he probably is worth a spot on an NBA roster just based on his athleticism and shot alone. I get that he is not mentally there, but couldn't someone just set him up with a permanent mentor and see how that goes.

Man, and to think what would have been had the Pacers taken Gerald and left us with Granger. Guess lightning couldn't strike twice after we got Big Al in a similar way...

Not me.  Scouts take one look at his game and he doesn't even get drafted.  There was a reason that his agent wouldn't let him work out for any teams prior to the draft.  Smart move.

I'd also be surprised if he played overseas.  Don't you have to at least be fundamentally sound to play overseas?
I guess this fits the fact that the team that draft him (Celtics) didn't really know enough about him since they didn't think he would be around.

Gerald can't play basketball in Europe. He's no where near sound enough as a player. You know what the odd thing about all of this is? Gerald would not have been a good enough player to play college ball competitively, and he's certainly not good enough to play in Europe, yet he got drafted 15th in the NBA. Strange things happen.

Danny Granger was Danny's pick before Indy took him. Indy picked ahead of us because they won the coin flip to break a tie at 17 and 18. Just a simple coin flip for Granger or Green.

It occurred to me randomly since he isn't in Europe or a minor league perhaps his agent is advising him to sit out and work on his game and be ready for a call if there are NBA injuries, so perhaps they know of opportunities we don't. I am certain he will get more chances in one way or another

He could dissappear for a few years and come back like Jamario Moon.

Agreed.
