He can play. I've been harping on the Celtics' lack of a backup point guard, but after watching Hudson in the regular season, I'm confident that he can fill that role. He sees the floor and he is a tenacious defender. He could start for some teams.

Giddens, on the other hand...

He is a natural scorer but it looks as if he's really embracing the pure point role. The benefit to this is that he CAN actually shoot. I think he'll be an EXCELLENT back-up for years to come.

Is it just me, or does Giddens just constantly do in and out dribbles while he has the ball.

Nice to see someone admitting their mistake. TP.

And oh God, don't get me started on Giddens....

Really bad game by him tonight.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I agree on Hudson, he keeps proving over and over again that he is a player.  I think he still has some to learn, and it will be tough to break into the rotation...but I feel very comfortable with him stepping in if there are any injuries though.

As for Giddens...anyone know when Walker will be back?

I like what I've seen of Lester too.  I don't think he could start for any teams, but he can play for us, which is saying quite a bit itself.  Hope he can continue to develop and start playing like he did tonight in meaningful minutes.

So is the bad game from Giddens because his option wasnt picked up or is it justification for Danny not picking it up? Maybe both, I just dont see a productive role the kid can play on this team. He is still lost on many plays offense and defense. He acts like he is still a bit blinded by the big lights. Will he ever get it?

I am starting to see some Tony Allen like negative traits from him. Shame he cant play defense like Tony used to when he was pre-first-injury healthy. Back to the D league soon and a decision coming up at the end of the season if he isnt traded beforehand.

Love Hudson's game and growth. Still a ways to go yet before we anoint him.

Giddens is lucky we have 3 guys out due to injury. Otherwise he would be in a suit every game.

The point-guard position is new for him, this is why I still think of Lester as a 2. I got to give him props being third to last picked, and making a championship team.

At least now we know he can't play. All of last year, I wondered about this guy getting picked before of Mario Chalmers, DeAndre Jordan, Mbah a Moute, and CDR

Good for you, Brick.

I've got to believe Hudson's earned the respect of the whole team.  He's really been impressive in his role.

Yeah the whole team seems to have Lester's name on the tip of their tongue. He comes up alot in interviews when players aren't even prompted about him. It just seems like he belongs. I think he plays with great confidence and that probably has alot to do with his age. He is an extreme case being 25 but staying in school makes sense for a LOT of ball players. I think there would be a lot more parity in the NBA if more kids stayed in school.

Giddens for example has ZERO confidence in his game out there. He looks like a kid who is afraid to assert his talents among men.

Giddens has lost all of his confidence. He got drafted in the 1st round because he played great defense against other rookies. When he was tested against the pro's he didn't do as well and thats where i think he lost it. It doesn't also help the celtics have a line in front of him in the sf/sg position and that he has to have a d!ck of a coach like rivers.

His shooting also is horrendous. We haven't seen any of his super dunks either

Another kedrick brown no doubt

on the other hand hudson has been a great surprise. He has sure skills and he just has to learn the plays and get used to the nba pace. He knocked down the threes tonights nicely and made some good passes that weren't executed by other players

In terms of rookie playing time:
Powe 11.4mpg in 63g
Davis 13.6mpg in 69g
Rondo 23.5mpg in 78g
Pruitt 6.3mpg in 15g
Walker 7.4mpg in 29g
Giddens 1.3mpg in 6g
Allen Ray 15.1mpg in 47g

So far, Hudson is averaging a bit under 9mpg playing in three out of five games.  Is it a reasonable goal to think he has a shot at playing about 10mpg in 60 games this season through a combination of mucho garbage time and earning it in a way that Giddens (who at this point can only aspire to be a poor man's Tony Allen) never has?
