No one the C''s have picked up in the second has been great, just okay to pretty good. The second round is littered with players the quality of Powe, Baby, and Gomes.
Leon Powe was fought over by two of the 3 best teams in the league last year and routinely put up double-double performances during the title run.
Gomes is averaging 12 and 5 for his career.
Big Baby averaged a double-double in last year's playoffs filling in for one of the two best power forwards of the last 10 years.
You think the second round is "littered" with players of that quality? Are you high?
And sorry, I think Tony Allen was a bad pick.
Disagree. He was playing out of his mind before he got hurt. Pierce was out and he averaged something like 18 points for the month. He was also a lockdown defender. It's easy to forget those things now, but he was better than Marquis Daniels. I have almost no use for him now, but that's due to injury, not because he was a bad pick.
I think Giddens was a bad pick.
A bit early to tell, but who would you have taken instead? Not a single star has risen out of the second round that year.
I think Green was a bad pick.
I don't disagree, but I challenge you to look back at the players still available at #18 that year. There are a couple of decent players on the list (David Lee stands out), but there are no star players taken after him.
