Rondo for 10-11m a year is an absolute steal.

Why wait until the offseason and get forced into matching a max offer?
Because I think Ainge is pretty confident that Rondo will not get a max contract offer.

I agree with him.

I see 8-9+ mill for 3 years is good with a 2 year option or something

50-60 million for 5 years would be fair. Throw 55 and get it done Danny

I'd like to see it get done, mostly because I am very much afraid of the Knicks making a real push for him.

Unless he is willing to take a pretty sizeable discount there really isn't any reason to not let him play out the year. We'll match almost anything someone throws out there. If he gets severely injured we don't get the shaft. He plays out of his mind for that big payday this year. He limits his "bad Rondo" games dramatically which allows us a better shot at a championship. If he signs the one year tender after this season we win twice… He isn't a 100% sure thing like a Deron Williams, Tony Parker, or Chris Paul, so there is no reason paying him now like he is.

Cosign. Either Danny lands him at the ballclub's price - which I'd say is about $55 graduated over five years - or he can play it out for the reasons stated above.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

If Danny offered 45mil the first day, maybe he offered 50 right before the weekend...my guess is that the Celtics latest offer will be 55 and that Rondo will accept ;)
