Powe had a KNEE injury and Davis a thumb injury...I don't think any "i told you so" stuff from the Powe camp is necessary. It wasn't a Powe vs Davis thing this offseason...it was a Powe vs Shelden Williams thing.

Who will be playing sooner, GD or Powe? ???. I know it's pretty opportunistic for my part but, at this point and after the facts, it would have been better and cheaper to keep Leon. I don't know if GD will be suspended or not but i hope (if it happens) he will learn his lesson and care less about "business" and "PT" and more about the team and being a real pro.

First, oviously no one new that Davis was going to break his thumb when the the decision was made. Second, I'm not sure it was a Davis or Powe choice since they went out and signed Williams to replace Powe anyway. Third, Davis has a broken thumb that will heal. It might keep him out for a while, but that's much different than a guy who's working on his third knee operation. I don't really understand these we should have keep Powe instead posts.

That doesn't mean I don't think Davis screwed up big and a suspension is in order. Personally I won't be surprised if Sheldon does a pretty good job for the team, maybe even better than Davis. Williams appears to be a tougher defender and a much better rebounder. Paired with Wallace who likes to play outside, he might be a better compliment to the second unit.

I guess if KG gets injured tomorrow we should've obviously signed Powe and dumped KG.

Davis out 6-8 weeks after surgery

This is better news, and makes more sense than 3-4 months.  TP for the post - let's hope Baby learned a lesson and spends his rehab on the treadmill and not at the buffet or the bar.

Baby got engaged the night of the incident and was trying to get some alone time with his girl in a public setting. He asked his buddy to act as a bodygaurd for him. the guy basically blew it off so he and baby had a disagreement resulting in punches.

you heard it here first.

Agreed on the crazy enough to be true front.  BTW, does anyone know the financial implications of suspending BBD?  The NBA is usually pretty thorough about making sure there are no financial incentives to fine players, etc - is it the same with suspensions?  Will his unpaid salary have to go to charity, still count toward the luxury tax, etc?

no no, i'm serious. this is not speculation, it's the actual story.

I know you're serious, not calling you a liar or anything, just...well, it's the Internet.  People will probably want confirmation before they believe it.  What does "alone time with his girl in a public space" mean though?  Is this "keep people away from my booth at the bar so we can talk" alone, or "get busy in a Burger King bathroom" alone?

good question. i don't get to ask a lot of questions unfortunately.

what i was told was that they were celebrating (at night) and baby didn't want to be harassed by fans etc. i would assume this was in a drinking establishment, but i can't say for sure. you'd have to guess because the conditions under which he punches his friend and brakes his thumb would suggest as much.

regardless, one helluva way to celebrate your engagement. congrats, baby!

I think you are wrong...(at least according to the newest article)

http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/basketball/celtics/view.bg?articleid=1207715&srvc=sports&position=0

Quote
A shirtless Glen “Big Baby” Davis and his “best friend” Shawn Bridgewater - a former teammate of the Celtics [team stats] forward on the University High basketball team in Baton Rouge, La. - emerged bleeding from their noses after a fight inside a black SUV in Waltham Sunday morning, the Herald has learned.

According to the police report obtained by the Herald, Davis claimed his allegedly drunken childhood pal was “continually bothering his girlfriend,” Jenna Gomez.

sounds pretty close. he just wanted privacy from his drunken buddy, not from others. i'm going to go out on a limb and guess they didn't spend his entire engagement night in the SUV with his friend passing a bottle around...

The article says the two couples had been at a local restaurant earlier and that neither Davis nor Gomez was impaired. It doesnt say that they hadnt been drinking, my guess is that they were not given a sobriety test. Clearly someone was partying that night.

Bridgewater was intoxicated according to the police. The guy was probably hitting on Davis fiance/wife or at the least he was talking inapropriately to her. This becomes a bad judgement issue for Davis in that he needs to more carefully monitor his alcohol intake, companions alcohol intake and surroundings. Maybe a bodyguard or babysitter is in order here to keep him from finding problems.

While I would like to say I dont blame Davis for what happened and that the team shouldnt punish him, I do not believe Wyc makes the comments about suspension without good reason. Wyc is not going to just 'cause he is mad' suspend him with the NBA Players Union and Davis agent ready to pounce if he is just an innocent victim here. It is very likely that there are things being 'taken care of' now by the Celtics organization and a few favors being called in. That is certainly enough to set Wyc off.

The fact that they were fighting could easily result in a criminal complaint for assault and battery being issued against Davis by Bridgewater and supported by the woman Bridgewater was with. That will be needing an out of court settlement that could get ugly and expensive.

If Glen Davis is suspended indefinitely, can the Celtics re-sign Sweetney?

Some things also could turn around and bite Celtics in the ass. Karma is a ****. Leon Powe was a keeper and somehow we let him go. I must say but I believe Powe more than I believe what C's said about him. Powe and Ryan Gomes are one of the most intelligent faces in the NBA.

Interesting.  The C's let him go because he's hurt and average when healthy.  Karma doesn't exist.

im not a fan of that obese fool.  Something about his personality rubs me the wrong way.  He reminds me of a poor man's Antoine Walker.  He seems like the kind of kid who had he joined a team of youngsters would have turned out a lot like Walker.  I can't really blame the Celtics for signing him.  They apparently couldn't find anyone willing to trade for him and I can imagine they didn't want him to walk with nothing in return... I figure they were planning on trading him sometime this season, but now the gamble didn't pay off.

Yeah I don't think there is any factual basis for this post.  But he did get into a fight with some dude about a girl so you have some leeway to hate without reason.
