Makes his debut tonight on sportsdesk. I just saw this scroll by the bottom of my screen, but i couldn't find an article on it (sorry).

I think this is a good move becuase they really don't have anybody on this channel who knows about basketball. Plus it's always nice to see a former Celtic be around the team, even if i do think his signing was a big mistake in our team's history.

Works for me.  Barros has perspective both as a player and as a member of the front office (sort of), so he could give some interesting insight.  I can't imagine I'll like him less than Donnie Marshall.  Maybe if he does well, Comcast will get the hint.

Donnie leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I hope he's not the gonna be the guy who gets the torch passed to him when mike and tommy are gone.  I hope that max and grande stick around and switch over to doing the television when that happens (although thats a very unrealistic dream.)

I look forward to seeing what Barros can do.

Surprised he's just getting a job with Comcast or NESN.. I thought he had been doing the analyst thing for a while.

Anway, I don't watch NESN much but Dana Barros might make me watch a little more.. Always loved him. When the sad day comes and Mike and Tommy retire I hope Barros gets a look as a replacement.

Unfortunately, I think it's pretty obvious that they're stroking Donnie for Tommy's replacement ... he actually has a decent knowledge of the game, he just loves the sound of his own voice way too much, (and shameless promotion of UConn and his "Buddy" Ray).

  • LETS DO IT AGAIN!
I just personally met Dana about a week ago.
Dana would occasionally be at the Garden in sweats passing the ball around during warmups.

Great addition and person.
I glad for him and us because he has a great perspective.
Good luck!

Yeah, you are right, it's clearly been moving in that direction for a while now.  I just try not to admit to myself that its really happening or that there will be a day without Mike and Tommy.  I agree, sometimes Donnie provides some very cool insights into the game, but he just really doesn't do it for me overall.

And I really love Grande, think he's one of the best announcers for any team in any sport.  Max is a great match for him as well.  Until the day comes when I do have to say goodbye to Mike and/or Tommy, and hello to Donnie, I'll keep my Grande/Max dream alive within me. ;D

I have high hopes for Barros.  Sorry but I always tend to zone out on Donny, not sure it's his fault though.

The end of "Mike and Tommy" will take me some time to get over ... seriously ... they are the Celtics for me, and embody all that "bleeding green" means ... Donny is way too objective ... he just doesn't get it.

I guess this is what opened up the spot for Lue. Lue has Barros' old job.

Dana Barros reminds me of Johnny Pesky. He refuses to disband himself from his former team. Hopefully the Celtics don't retire his old number like they did for Pesky just so he can shoo lol.

He continues to sit on the bench, work jobs pertaining to his former team, etc seemingly all with the intent that *maybe* he'll get another shot with the team.

Remember Barros and his 03-04 Celtics season? LOL!!!

When I was at UConn....  o wait... Soooo tired of hearing that.

I don't know how Dana will do in this role but I like him as a person.  I hope the best for him.
