Antoine has better numbers...
No he doesn't.

Efficiency wise, Sheed wins, but productivity wise, Toine wins, his per game and done in less years (less games).
Uh per minute averages are pretty close in rebounds and everything else but assists. Sheed took less shots, used less possessions, and turned the ball a hell of a lot fewer times. All while posting similar scoring and much much better defense.

Missing shots and turning the ball over is bad for your team.
Sheed is definately a more efficient player, but game 7 on the road, I'd rather have Toine.  Sheed just far too often failed to show up in big games and always takes games off.  You can say a lot of things about Toine, but that man always showed up and often came up huge with games and series on the line.

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

What about Frank Ramsay, and Heinsohn, and Sharman... the list goes on.  Those guys won 9 championships in 11 years.  Any one of them could have led the league in scoring for multiple years playing on a bad team.

But I guess in today's NBA, losers like Kevin Durant are valued more than winning players, because marketing the exploits these bogus "stars" is the only way to keep an overexpanded league viable.

If Sheed had 9 championships, he'd be in on the first ballot.  He has 1, hopefully in 9 months he'll have 2.  That's what I'm saying.  He's undoubtedly a winner, but not a big enough winner to make up for his numbers and his image problems.  Keep pummeling that strawman though.

He has the talent, but not enough numbers and accolades.

No, Sheed is not a hall of famer.

What strawman?  Sheed will have to play extremely well in the twilight of his career to get HOF consideration, plus he will have to win at least two more championships.

Even then he may not get in, but he would be on the cusp.

You guys are Celtics fans right?

Tell me a C's team that Toine was on where he didn't need to take a lot of shots or play point forward, power forward or even center?

Sheed's been on some pretty good teams in his career, so it wasn't just all on him for his team to be good.

Toine was not so lucky, so his efficiency and his turnovers are also inflated. (By how much, I am not sure).

I think Sheed's desire for not wanting "to be the man" on his team is selfish. He is quite capable of being a superstar player on his team and his team could have benefited a lot.

I think Sheed's attitude on the court and with the refs cost his team a lot and was a detriment and a stain on his career.

Also, the hall of fame should be a place for great players, not role or team players.

If the hall allowed room for role or team players, then it's not worthy to be called the hall of fame; it would just be called the "hall of every player that weren't terrible"....or something like that.

So, you prefer the chubby chucker?

Say, where is Antoine these days?  Maybe the Celtics ought to bring him in for a workout.

Amen.

Add LeBrick and DWadehistle to that list (the jobbing of '06 does not count as winning in my book).

DWade won WITH Antoine, Shaq, and GP. Thats one of my favorite championship teams.

But if the 06 Heat championship doesn't count then thats makes Marquis Daniels a key role player on a championship team. Go Quisy!

Well he is a hall of fame talent but maybe deferred too much even on the good teams he was on to get consideration.   Look at it this way how many if any PF/C in the hall would you take Sheed over or at least comparable?  If you can come up with a few then maybe he has a chance.  Here is the list.

I just don't see it. He was never top 4 at his position.

He's not a Hall of Famer. Maybe he could of been if he actually played hard all the time. He had the skill to be a Hall of Famer though.

Sheed is a flat out better player now, and in my mind he has been since about 2001.

That said, I don't think either one belongs anywhere near the HOF.

Right now, I'd say no.  He simply doesn't have the stats to do it and he hasn't won enough titles to ride the train that some of the Celtics greats have rode to the hall that didn't have great stats.  However, if he wins two titles here, I think he has a chance.

I think Rasheed has always been a better player. He's just much better at fundamental basketball.

sheed is not a hall of famer.  he is very good, but not worthy of HOF.

That's absolutely true.  The more interesting question is what, if anything, he could do to become worthy.
