I like him.  I think he can develop into a Posey type role player. He rebounds, defends, and always looks to pass first.  He showed he can make the 3 and seems to have decent basketball sense.

Thoughts?

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
He looked better tonight than I've seen him. At first I was just saying he looked active..but now I'd say he looked good. If this is how he's gonna play every night he has a spot on the roster.

He has the intangibles. But can he put it together without going 100mph. Personally, I like him. If all things fails, we can use his defense in certain match-ups. He moves his feet well, and has those long to bother shots. This guy was build to be a great defender.

tonight was the first time he looked pretty good on an nba court.  he normally looks way out of control, extra excited, and trying to hard to impress.....rather than letting his game come naturally.

I'm his fan and I watch very much of him in college, what I can tell you for him is that he can't show what he can do here, at least not now, because of the situation right now. His game is based on his confidence, and everyone of you that played the game at some point know that if you don't play you have not cofidence in you, and your game don't work out. I know it for long time, now you can see it by yourself, when you play him 2,3 to 7-8 minutes he can't do much, just because he can't get his mind right and get his game on, when you play him let's say 20 minutes or more like tonight 33, well you see what's the deal right, the boy has game in him, but he is not at the right place to show it up, because they can't gave him this kind of minutes he need

Meanwhile, for every game against supposedly tonight's, Hudson is able to do well in limited minutes.

I dunno, Giddens did well tonight, I'll give him that, but I feel like you're just making excuses.

Just has been waitin for the opportuniy.

Ladies and gentlemen, JR Giddens!!

Kidding, I thought he did well from what I saw tonight. But yeah, he wont get much minutes on this team right now. There is potential for him to grab a few though if he keeps it up.

Has Doc commented on this game? I'm curious about his take... not on JR solely, but on the whole team since most role players got extensive playing time with different types of combinations.

If he plays like tonight (the first time he has gotten legitimate minutes in his career), there is definitely room for him. For the beginning of the season, I'd much rather see him as that 10th man (spot minutes and foul trouble) than Scalabrine.

Pretty much my stance on the matter. Though it's up to him to perform, I think he should get the opportunity to do so, and that's in Doc's hands. He's still inadequate in various facets of the game, but I think overall he's a net positive particularly when surrounded with people that can actually play because they can take advantage of what he brings to the table... energy, defense, and rebounding.

What's also good, is that so far he has shown that he's not one to take many shots and for someone "inept" offensively as he has so far suggested to be, he has been quite efficient with his scoring.
