...unfortunately the player coming back will have just as much baggage as Tony Allen . His height and wingspan remind me of James Posey, but he hasn't really shown much in terms of defense. He is 6-8 or 6-9, he  seems like a tweener. Not terribly exciting because of his off court distractions, but getting rid of Tony Allen and getting back a player that has an intriguing skillset is better then keeping Tony Allen. I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to acquire him, but I wanted to know what you guys thought about him...Dallas would do this, would Boston? Does his potential outweigh the possible distraction he might cause?

So we offer them Tony Allen for Shawne Williams and a pick or cash. Then we cut Williams and keep the grease. Tony becomes their asset or problem, everyone is happy.

Why was he 'asked' to stay away from the team?

At this point, hang on to TA to package him in a deal with Scal (and maybe others) to get a better, stable, proven player.

Moving TA for the sake of moving him doesn't get the C's anywhere in the short run and potentially kills a deal for $-matching purposes later on in the season.

We will keep both Tony and Scal until the trade deadline, playing them as much as possible to boost trade value. This is smart, as their contracts could potentially be dealt with some of our youth for a valuable last piece to a championship team.

I know you're right, and I am convinced that it's the wisest decision...but still, I really donĀ“t want any more minutes for Allen  :(

I don't see Doc playing them just to increase their trade value.  He's trying to win a championship, and playing them extra minutes isn't going to get him there.  Scal and TA's value this year isn't their talent, it's their expiring contracts.  If Danny trades them it will be for a talent upgrade.  Whoever trades for them will probably not be trading for their talent.

I don't think Tony can stay on the court long enough to get his trade value up. His ankle has some serious issues that are not being resolved. My biggest fear is that we will be stuck with him all season.

Exactly, people are too eager to get rid of Tony. Right now I don't think he'll crack the rotation if we're healthy.

No thanks.  Larry Bird and Mark Cuban both did not want Shawne and there is more to the story of why not.  Move on to the next idea...

That is an extremely scary, twilight zone type scenario.
