With the thread "Who is the best passing center of all time" most have picked Sabonis and it got me thinking about the other big position Power Forward.   I wonder what people think of who is the best passing PF of all time Duncan, KG, Barkley, the Mailman, a darkhorse like Webber or someone else.   Let the debate begin.

Webber and Duncan stand out for me

Yeah Webber was an unbelievable passer.   That Kings team with Webber and Divac was fun to watch with their frontcourt passing.

McHale was known as a black hole.  I'm sure he *could* pass, but it wasn't a strong point.

Larry Bird, when playing PF, was the best passing PF of all time.  Barkley was one of my favorites, but KG may be the best of the past 20 years.  He had six seasons with at least 5.0 assists.  Webber had two such seasons.

Most of those guys were forwards at one time in their career, but "power forward" for some of them may be stretching it (i.e., Havlicek).

In ranking all of them, I wouldn't have Larry down so far.  He was the second best passing man 6'9" or over I've ever seen, behind Magic.

My mistake ... in my rush to reply, I was not considering the term "power" ... I'll try to ammend accordingly. ;)

not sure how most of these players are considered PFs but Bird is hands down the best passer to play the position.  Granted, once Mchale became a starter he was the PF but Bird is by far the best passer to have played the position.

Of people Bird's size, I agree that only Magic was better.  Curse me for having to praise a scumbag Laker.

Good point Roy although the career averages between Webber and KG are very similar.  4.3 APG for KG and 4.2 for C Webb and they have the same 4.1 APG per 36 min however I am biased towards KG ;)

Bird did play some 4 but mostly the 3.  For sake of discussion we should keep him off here because if we are going to consider him a 4 it would be a no brainer then.

Me too.  But why isn't Larry Bird, at 6-9, eligible for consideration in the "power forward" category?  He certainly played pf when McHale was the 6th man.
