Quote from today's ESPN chat:

Sara (Los Angeles)
Thoughts on Lester Hudson?

David Thorpe  (12:22 PM)
He's much more than just a scorer. I love him. We coached him before his senior year. I thought he should have come out then.

Eh, Thorpe loves anyone he has coaching.  He is probably still saying Orien Greene is ready for a breakout year.

I am not doubting that Hudson could be a player (although I have no reason to think he will be either), but Thorpe is not a reliable source on stuff like this.

The great thing about the Hudson situation is that we should know very quickly if he has a place on the team. We will not have to wonder for a year or two. It is now or never for him as a Celtic. Hopefully it works out.

Sorry, but I just can't stand Thorpe.  He rarely has any substance to what he talks about, and when he does, it is just talking up guys he has worked with, way beyond reality.

Lol...yeah I agree with Chris. Sometimes I think guys train with thorpe just so he can hype them in his chats.

I also find the constant opera references annoying. We get it, you're a complex and sophisticated guy, Thorpe. You love Puccini and Seinfeld. Big deal. Give it a rest.

Thorpe does good work - he is a net positive in my estimation.
"All I have to know is, he's my coach, and I follow his lead. He didn't have to say anything in here this week. We all knew what we had to do. He's a big part of our family, and we're like his extended family. And we did what good families do when one of their own is affected." - Teddy Bruschi

From what I've seen, I like him a lot as well.  Good chance pick once again late by our hall of fame GM.  I never know how he finds these guys.  It seems every 2nd round pick he grabs has major upside.  Now its coaching and development that needs to hit home with him.

His defense alone is far and away above what you'd expect out of a 2nd round pick.  I'm interested now to see how quick he learns the offense and even to a more extent, his role.  I always love when Danny grabs the guards who are exceptional at rebounding and getting steals. Plus he can get buckets.  Good chance pick once again on a stacked team.

Some people on this blog don't seem to like any of the experts from Hollinger to Thorpe, etc.  I like Thorpe and respect his opinion.  A lot of celticsbloggers bashed him when he said he wasn't high on Giddens and Walker but a year later and it looks like he was right.  So I'll consider it good news that he has positive things to say about Hudson.

not to pile on or anything, but Thorpe still says nice things about Orien Greene

side note: mike gorman called him a "physical specimen" on Celtics Stuff Live. He does look big in the training camp photos I've seen. If he can really bring defense, i will give this guy a longer leash than planned....

I agree.

I think his jumpshot will be the reason. Spreading the floor and having guys who can hit the open shot is huge with Doc. I feel like I know what Doc likes from his players, but then I see how much he seems to like tony and I get confused.
