with our depth in the front court, we don't need him til after the break.  he needs to come back slowly - let sheed start and kg come off the bench til the break.  that should keep kg's minutes down in the beginning.  i know easier said than done.  kg is a warrior and will fight doc keeping his minutes down.

I like this idea.  Kills 2 birds with 1 stone.  It solves the anticipated issue as to who starts Perk or Sheed and allows KG to ease back into action.  Your point about KG being against it is probably reality but, he does seem to be more open to taking advice in regards to this injury.

I think we're just going to see KG enter the next stage of his career... where he's one of those big men that can hardly get up and down the court because of his knees.  Happens with lots of big men... like Parish and Ewing.  Takes them 10 seconds to get from one end to the other end, but they are still pretty effective when they finally get down there.

KG's about to be one of them "old man" big men.

I see some truth here, hopefully not the case though.

I get a sickening feeling he'll be shutdown before December..just doesn't look promising at all. He was dragging the leg the entire practice today...

I don't understand why he is on the court if he is limping around like this. He was basically just cleared to play and now he is going 100% on the court. We don't need him to be 100% for preseason or the start of the regular season. We need him 100% or as close to that as we can come playoff time. It's like we are rushing him to get back on the floor when i'd rather them just take their time a bit more. Obviously KG is so amped up about playing that he doesn't want to come off the court, will say that he feels better than he probably does, maybe because of his adrenaline or maybe cause he doesn't want to show any weakness. KG is a veteran player and will be able to pick up plays, get back into shape very quickly even if he sits out much of this preseason or even a bit longer. With Sheed and Baby we also don't need to rush him back into playing 100% as they would be able to fill in for him more than adequately while he tries to come back.

I just don't want all this rush to get him back to 100%, playing in the starting lineup, going all out in practice and in games, just to have him aggravate his knee or his body 1 month into the season...

not good.    he's not 90% or what they've advertised.

limping or favoring is a problem, because anytime your asymetrical, you risk a problem with the good leg.  I'm sure the trainers/drs. know what they are doing, but I don't think he should be out there.  I've had my knee completely rebuilt, and even when I was back on the court, you couldn't visibly see me favoring, it was more mental.   Although it was a different injury.

The Cs are like the Patriots with these injuries.

If you read the last thread I started, all of this is obviously no surprise to me. But the good news is that there is always Roy Hobbs to put a positive spin on a one-legged KG.

I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic about KG. When Ray had the spurs removed from his ankles it took him about a season to get back to form and he did great in the finals. So I'm not really expecting much from KG early in the season. I just want him to work his work back slowly and be fully healthy in the
playoffs.

After seeing him in the scrimmage, I think this footage is just from the end of a practice.  Obviously he is still building up strength in that knee, and leg, and it is completely normal for that to be showing with a limp at the end of practice.  But he was not really limping during the scrimmage today.

I think there is still going to be a little while before he is 100%, but this video isn't worrying me any more than I already was.

They say he´s got problems with the shin and calf, not the knee. I hope they are not lying, after all KG said it himself

I read that OP in that thread you started and can't help but think yesterday's scrimmage sessioin dispelled a ton of your theories.

KG looks far from missing most of the season and if anything will probably be handled with kid gloves and be seeing 30 minutes or less for a good portion of the start of the season.

KG will start and Rasheed will come off the bench. It's obvious from who they are playing with in scrimmages which players each player will be playing with. KG the starters. Rasheed the bench.

Rasheed was brought in as a replacement, but for Powe not KG.

Now could KG not be his usual All-Star self, All Defensive self...sure, that could be. He is 33 years old after all and has already put in a ton of mileage on his body. But I don't see any evidence in yesterday's scrimmage that showed that he is going to take anywhere near a big a dip in his performance as you professed.

I think Roy was right to paint this in a positive light because from what I've seen and heard, things are positive!!

Thanks, nick.  That's how I see it.  If KG wasn't ready to play and contribute, he wouldn't be out there.  He's working through some rust and stiffness, but he's getting close to where he needs to be.

I guess I just don't understand all the hand wringing.  Players have minor surgeries all the time, and come back from them just fine.  Heck, Leon Powe -- a guy who performed brilliantly here -- had two surgeries much more severe than anything KG had.  Amare' Stoudemire had microfracture surgery, and plays like an all-star (offensively).  There are literally dozens of players in the NBA who have had more severe surgeries than having bone spurs removed.

I blame the Bill Simmons doom and gloom "HE HAD THE TENDON STAPLED TO HIS KNEE CAP" reactionary cries for attention.

(By the way, the tendon that was inflamed is *behind* the knee, while the knee cap is obviously in front of it.  That would have been a darn weird procedure, since it would have essentially required the tendon to be streched another six inches and wrapped around the front of the knee.  In other words:  it didn't happen.)

I've had both acls reconstructed and soft tissue cleaned out of each one once.
If this pain is from the knee, we DO have a problem, if it is from shin splints, then everything will be fine.
Except, if he had shin splints, he should have been pulled from practice, iced down and had his shoes and insoles inspected.
Shin splints can make you look old until you address the problem.
I could not believe how much of my athletic ability I got back when I got my new insoles, and my shin splints went away.
I agree with several posters here, let KG come off of the bench and allow Sheed learn to play within our system and get the cohesiveness we need him to have.
All while allowing KG the time he needs to heal properly.
