* Second year forward Bill Walker was sent home to Boston to have his knee checked out. More details tonight on Mohegan Sun’s Sports Tonight.

NEWPORT, R.I -- Swingman Bill Walker left practice Wednesday and is headed for Boston to get an MRI on his surgically repaired right knee. Walker tore his left ACL while at Kansas State and then hurt the right knee in a workout with the Golden State Warriors in July 2008 and then had surgery a few weeks later.

Walker, who played 29 games last season with the Celtics and also spent time in the NBDL, likely won't play a significant role early in the season. It is uncertain when Walker will return to training camp.

I feel bad for the kid.  :(

Great. That's all we need is another wing that's only true talent is his athleticism, that has bad knees. Quickly they just become poor players when they're athleticism returns to the level of the rest of the field. He can ride the pine I guess with TA.

This quote from Doc in the Herald this morning makes it sound worse:

“His knee has been bothering him,” coach Doc Rivers said. “Yesterday (during) practice he said it was really bothering him, but he said he’s felt it for two weeks. Let’s hope it’s not too bad.” . . .

Per Celtics Twitter :

"Doc says meniscus tear for Bill Walker and he'll have surgery within a week. Expected out at least 6-8 weeks."

I feel bad for the kid and hope his surgery won't prevent him from making a good comeback.

Knee injuries are not easily recoverable.

This is why he went from the Lottery to the end of the second round.

This is also why we didn't re-sign Powe.

This is also why Brady will never be the same QB.

ACL tears aint nuthin to buck with.

Hmm, I wonder how KG is doing...
God bless and good night!

Couple thoughts.

It may be now-or-never for Giddens; this is his opportunity to really prove that he's an NBA player, that he deserves at least a few minutes on the court.  He's not terribly young, if he's going to be a player we ought to at least start seeing some flashes.

If both Hudson AND Sweetney impress, and they want to keep both around...  there's always the possibility now that Walker could be cut.  Walker's not going to be of any help for a couple months, and he may be one of those guys that's ALWAYS fighting injuries.  If they want/need an extra roster spot - if a decent PG unexpectedly gets cut, or they want to make a trade, Walker's short money, too, they could cut him with minimal financial cost.  Not saying that they WILL cut Walker, but we've known since they were drafted that it was ultimately going to be Giddens or Walker, not both.

I think this is about where we should start quietly climbing off the Bill Walker bandwagon.  I hope it works out for him, but knees aren't meant to undergo four significant injuries, especially not before the kid even turns 22.

Best of luck, Billy.  I think you'll need it.

I think this very likely spells the end of any realistic hopes for Bill Walker's Celtics career...he was already fighting to get into the rotation, and now he'll be diminished further from another knee injury.

It really sucks for him but I guess part of having an NBA career is being healthy and that apparently isn't in the cards for him.

Maybe Giddens can calm down a little bit? He always seems too anxious. Forcing shots, rushing things, taking off too early on a dunk, too many pump fakes, etc. Seems like he's just trying every move to see if it works, instead of taking his time and getting the defender off balance. He has the athleticism, body, and work ethic, but he needs TO LEARN THE GAME(from PAUL).

Maybe he will focus on what he's doing on the court, instead of worrying if he'll even be on the team. Walker is out, and I have a feeling the Celtics Organization is COMPLETELY done with Tony at this point. This is your opportunity JR, I know your an NBA player. Prove to us you are, and arent Gerald Green 2.0  :'(
