All I've seen about Sweets' contract from the C's is that it's for the pre-season.  Hudson's contract, however much guaranteed, in contrast is for the year.  Sweets isn't on their regular-season roster.

I didn't think Hudson's contract was guaranteed. Barring a complete implosion, I don't see how Hudson doesn't make at least the 15-man roster. But, I want true validation of a guaranteed contract as of today.

it's really ridiculous how much smaller he used to be. Seeing him in this video was even more eye-opening then that picture comparison.

Or elese?? hahaha just kidding that did sound like the start of a threat. Reminded me of the office episode last night. Is there a place we can look this up? Hobbs anyone?

Wow... that is insane. He has an even smaller frame then I thought. I really wonder if there is some sort of medical condition we are unaware of. He has at a minimum been playing some basketball for 9 months of the year the last 8 years. It seems really difficult to put on that kind of weight while doing so. Did he stop completely playing over the last few years?

Lol, well when I meant "as of today", I meant proof that Hudson actually has a guaranteed contract NOW, not that someone had to find it today "or else". : p

Sham has said that Shelden Williams has a guaranteed minimum salary of $825,000 roughly at least what the C's have to pay.

Sweetney has the same salary but it is not guaranteed and would not be until a date in Jan. when all contracts for the year are guaranteed.

Hudson's contract is for about $450,000 and likely is not guaranteed.

I think Hudson is safe unless another pg is added and he looks pretty good.

Williams doesn't but my guess is another team would take a chance on him, so Boston could probably get a team to agree to claim Williams, which every team can do and it isn't like another team could get him cheaper by letting him clear waivers.

I wouldn't be shocked if Boston decided to move TA, Scal, and Giddens for Antonio Daniels, who is going to get bought out if he isn't dealt.  He is a solid veteran guard who would also give Boston one 6+ mil expiring contract at the deadline instead of trying to trade someone 3 guys midseason.

It isn't worth doing this to keep Sweets but it might be why he is here.

I never liked Sweetney's game.  He's just a pudgy jump shooter, and we already have one of those who is better than Sweetney.

He has a better chance of making the team than Kevin Pittsnogle did-- but not by much.

Big Baby > Sweetney.
All Sweetney has going for him is that he's tall.
Can he play defense?
That determines if he sticks or gets cut sooner rather than later.

At first glance upon seeing Michael Sweetney in a Boston uniform, you couldn't help but think: Fat chance he'll make the team.

But Sweetney has been lighter on his feet than his enlarged frame would indicate, and the former lottery pick saw action in five of Boston's first six exhibition games, drew consistent praise from Doc Rivers and put up slightly better offensive stats than teammate Shelden Williams -- another of Boston's offseason free agent acquisitions as it added depth to the front line. (Sweetney was shooting 67 percent from the field and 86 percent from the line; Williams was at 46 and 64 percent, respectively, in the same categories entering Tuesday night's game at New York.)

After being out of the league for an entire season and letting his weight balloon 40 pounds above where it is now (we'll estimate his current heft at 335 pounds, since Sweetney declined to provide an actual number when queried him about it at training camp), Sweetney was playing well enough to make the Celtics think long and hard about whether they wanted to find a way to keep him around, which would mean trading or releasing one of the 15 players not named Sweetney who are playing on guaranteed contracts. (J.R. Giddens, Bill Walker and the injured Tony Allen are currently the favorites to lead the Celtics in nights spent on the inactive list).

But now, the Celtics will have to judge him on his five-game body of work, because Sweetney's preseason is over.

By the way, if he's lost 40 lbs already, maybe he can lose another 40 in a month or two...and that would be enough to regain his shape

He's gone, we aren't going to cut a player who can contribute now for him. Not when he still has a weight issue and needs to get in even better shape.

If we were going to wait around for a talented offensive big to get into physical shape to play we would have kept Leon Powe.

There is a basic difference: Sweetney can give us 10 min right now, Powe unfortunately wouldn't have been able to do so until mid season

I don't think we'd want Sweetney in for 10 minutes in a game that counted right now. Not at his current fitness level.

I think he could in 60 second intervals ;)

Why not? He's proven he can play well at short intervals. He has done a very decent job in preseason.
