Donny Marshall said last night that Sweets would have to lose AT LEAST 30lbs to be comfortable enough to play at NBA speed (implied: for 3-7 mins/game).

I actually love Sweets. He's huge, relatively smart, doesn't try to do too much, and being on a team like this could really give him (and his career) another shot.

Sweetney isn't making the roster. He fouls like crazy, doesn't rebound, can barely run up and down the court and is a huge liability on defense. Sure he has some post moves, but it doesn't compensate for his weaknesses. Like others have said, he is probably 100 pounds overweight and 30 pounds away from being in good enough shape to be on the court. I was all for bringing him to camp because he is pretty talented, but he is just too overweight.

lets not go overboard, if he lost 100 pounds he would be what 225? Thats pretty darn small for a 6'9 guy, especially since he definetely has some muscle under the blubber.

Just throwing around nicknames for Sweetney.  Master Po came up with The Human Eclipse; to which I responded with the The Human Eclair.

I think it works.  :D

This looks disgusting. You feel fat just looking at it. Maybe I should put this picture on my fridge if i want to go on a diet

To the person that said that Marquis Daniels was going to be a big disappointed. You are going to regret saying that. Daniels will be key to number 18.

He has a shot. I dont think he will make it though. I expect the borderline players who have guaranteed contracts to be on the roster on opening night (i.e. Tony Allen, Brian Scalabrine, Bill Walker, maybe JR Giddens).

He's a feel good story, I just don't think he fills a need of any sort especially with the signing of Shelden Williams, a guaranteed deal. We have our scrub big who will get PT when emergency hits (God forbid).

I hope danny gets rid of TA or giddens and lets Sweets stay on. I feel like he's got some ways to contribute.

TA maybe. He's useless out there. I'm ready to give up on him.

Giddens, not so much. His high rebounding numbers are impressive. And he looks more confident out there. I think he could warrant a role on this team if he continues to play well as we close out these final preseason games and head into the regular season.

Yeah it's really tough to really say anything on everything right now.  :-X Hence why i've almost been a ghost on this forum. Alot of unknowns need to play out this season, too many if you ask me.

I may be wrong but I believe the only other player in camp without a guaranteed contract is Hudson.
You are wrong. Both Sweetney and Hudson have partially guaranteed contracts.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Does the CBA allow for us to renegotiate his contract so we can make it guaranteed this year with weight clauses?

Thats if he's 325 now.  At 6'9" and that fat, i bet he's a lot more that 325 now.

what do you speculate then? He is able to run up and down the court? Also, fat weighs less the muscle as illustrated earlier with a photo on this forum.

Really?  I knew about Hudson, but I didn't know Sweetney had a partial guaranteed contract. With that, don't we now have 16 players under contract?  And is it possible that the Celtics might cut Williams in favor of Sweetney?

I'd like to see something to support Sweetney having any kind of guarantee on his contract.  All I've seen is that he signed a contract, it might have said "one year" but that tells you absolutely nothing about whether any of the money is guaranteed or not.
