There, I said it. I don't have any more news or updates on KG's injury than anyone else. So I am going on my opinion.

But, honestly, I just don't see it happening. He doesn't have the type of injury that has a "prognosis."

At this point, he still can't play competitive ball. I don't see things getting drastically better in the next few months.

Moreover, I looked, and still do look, at the Rasheed signing as a KG replacement. A guy who can fill in until KG is back.

So, in conclusion, I expect KG to be out for a good portion of the regular season. And I expect Rasheed to be the starter.

Even if KG is able to come back, which I think he will, later on in the regular season, I still expect Rasheed to continue being the starter.

Lastly, I think KG will still play with the same fire and intensity as always. But the days of KG being an all-star, all NBA, and all defensive guy are over.

But, it is my belief, that, even with a declining KG, when coupled with a declining Rasheed, may be enough to make some noise, mostly because they are great shooting big men and good defensive players.

i think the will go very slow with KG...i think his injury was 10 times worse than reported and i think he will see reduced minutes this season...i am hopeful he comes back strong but am very concerned he is still hurt

Medically, I don't think there's anything to suggest that KG will miss 42+ games (which would constitute most of the season).

KG had bone spurs and irritation of a tendon in his knee.  That surgery may indeed slow him down for awhile -- Ray Allen's bone spur surgery slowed him down for about half a season -- but I don't think it's going to keep him sidelined for a substantial period of time.

The days of KG being a top 5 player were already over before the injury.  He averaged 16 and 8 when healthy.  I hope he comes back with enough left in the tank that we can take advantage of our additions and compete for a title for another year or two.

the averages are totally misleading, they would drop regardless just from playing with Pierce and Ray. I can't think of more than 203 players I would rather have than KG right now if I wanted to compete for a title.

I still think that if team doctors had originally thought the injury to be severe then they would have opted for immediate surgery and not waited until summer. It only makes sense. It's possible they misdiagnosed it but would they find out months later that he had a more serious injury then they had expected. I dont think it is that bad. All knee injuries leave the player in a very precarious position but I think KG will be back and strong at some point before the All Star break. Rasheed could be viewed as a replacement but I think he is just the perfect backup player for both Perk and KG. A sort of "kill two birds with one stone" approach.

I agree that the 'Sheed move was a supplement to KG's injury, (a safety net, if you will), but I also am not too worried about KG having a major contribution and starting for the majority of games in the regular season. That said, I also think that no one really knows how he'll perform in the grind-it-out regular season, and won't until it's actually upon us, and he's out there on the floor. It's just that kind of injury ... one that's very hard to assess or anticipate results with, so I'll cross my fingers for now! Great post though, and certainly a very valid point. TP.

Honestly, I think a lot of this thread is illogical.  Why would anyone venture a guess on anything to do with KG's health right now unless he or she was a medical professional with access to KG's medical records?  KG may miss no games or the whole season for all any of us know.  So I think it's silly to say any evidence is pointing in any direction at this point.  For all we know the reason that KG isn't playing pickup games is because the C's are being overly cautious in their treatment of him.

Second, I also think it's grossly inaccurate to say that KG's days as a top 5 player were behind him before the injury simply because he put up 16 and 8.  He clearly showed he was capable of doing a lot more than that.  But because there were so many good players and so many blow outs, he simply didn't have to do more.  Plus, I think using stats to judge anything is a huge mistake.  There are plenty of players who put up great stats to the detriment of teams (like AI) that clearly prove how flawed that was.  KG's defensive presence alone makes him a top 5 player in this league.

So what you have is an opinion that is based on limited or missing information regarding the nature of the injury, the degree of completeness of the recovery, the prognosis, his current work/practice regimen, or the opinions/assessments of doctors, coaches, trainers or KG himself. In addition, I assume that, like the rest of us, you haven't seen him play since April.   How is it possible to call what you have an opinion? Call it s gut feeling, a complete guess, a shot in the dark -- but not an opinion.

TP for you.  I saw the thread title, thought this "opinion" was something published so I came hereto see if there was any legitimacy to this rumor, and there is not.

I'm not concerned about KG at this point ... something else would need to happen first, before I began to worry about his return + effectiveness on return.
