To trade Tony Allen would be nice, but realistically who wants him before the deadline? I checked on ESPN Trade Machine and a Scalabrine/Giddens for Raja Bell works. Much more appealing if I am trading away Bell. It also saves Charlotte about 800k in salary, so we may be able to finagle a future 2nd rounder to go with him.

I also think that his 5.5 million dollar salary with Tony Allen's would put us in a nice position at the trade deadline with expiring money. That allows us to pursue a 9+ million per player which has a lot more appeal than the 7 million level guys we would be looking at instead.

I can see Raja and Lester are the most voted options...how about both??? If we traded for Raja we may still sign Lester since there would be one roster spot open I guess ::)

Didn't have to think too long about this one, as I don't see a trade for Bell having much affect on the Hudson question either way.

This is a no brainer. Raja Bell FTW.

Optimally,
Move Veal and TA for Raja Bell.  Roster stands at 13.
Sign vet PG as insurance.  Bobby Jackson or Antonio Daniels would suffice.  Roster at 14.
Sign Hudson if he shows he shows some promise in camp.  Roster at 15.

This limits Danny's ability for a mid-season trade (only Ray and House as the expiring deals but why would you move them at this point) but you'd have a 12-man game roster that's stacked and not far-fetched to achieve.

Rondo, Ray, PP, KG, Perk starting with
Sheed, BBD, Marquis, Bell, House as the primaries off the bench
Williams and Daniels/Jackson for insurance off the bench.
That's a championship team.

Indeed it is. But if we want to trade for Bell, I don't think it will happen after the start of training camp. Any additions to the roster will be before media day, which is today.

It'd be nice to have Raja here, but I don't see it happening.  I mean what motivation do the Bobcats have to move him?  I'm sure he'd like to go somewhere else, but it's not like a discontented Bell is going to cost the Bobcats a shot at the NBA Championship.  Plus, he's an expiring contract.  I'm sure the Bobcats could get more for him than Tony Allen and J.R. Giddens.  And even if the C's could sweeten the pot enough, would it really be worth it?  Is there room enough for Marquis Daniels and Raja Bell in a playoff rotation?  I don't think so.

I voted for Bobby Jackson.  Though I don't think he'd see regular PT if the team is healthy (as I think House and Daniels will consume all the 1/2 minutes), he'd be a nice insurance policy if Rondo or House went down for a few weeks.

Wow... I'm really surprised that so many people wouldn't want Antonio Daniels.  I too would rather have Raja Bell out of those options (excluding other option) but Daniels is easily my next pick.  I almost have him as high up as Raja.

I feel pretty privileged just to be talking about these guys as our last man on the roster.  We are extremely lucky to even be in a situation where we have expiring contracts to use as bait, and enough talent that were just putting the icing on the cake now.

I would love to see Raja, but any of these names mentioned would pure gravy to me. ;)

Agreed, the trade may not happen during camp but that's why I prefaced my 2 cents with "optimally"   ;D

Bell would be a nice luxury to have.  Not a necessity but a very solid player off the bench that could competently step in for Ray or PP should they be out for a while.  The trade would also clear some deadwood on the bench while opening a spot for a prospect (Hudson, should he prove worthy of a spot in camp).

I would rather move Scal and Tony for Antonio Daniels and keep Lester Hudson, then wait for the Wolves to release Daniels and then have to decide between Daniels and Hudson.

I think that CHA is dangling Raja Bell's expiring deal for an upgrade at the starting SG spot not just worse players on  expiring deals.

We're not getting any more vets (unless we sign someone in camp like Dickau or Swift) before the season starts.  The team is pretty much complete right now, though we'll probably at least look at trades midseason.  But what you see is what you get for the moment.
