Interesting. I wouldn't mind having him for a back-up point guard.

Thoughts?

I've always liked Chucky Atkins.  I think his best days are in the rear view mirror, though; he was pretty cooked last season.  Still, I'd give him a training camp invite; he can't be much worse than Dickau.

I came here to start this thread. [dang] you, Tnerb!

I agree, it is interesting. I would have thought that the Wolves could have dangled Atkins' non-guaranteed contract, and gotten something nice for it, but instead, Kahn decided to cash it in.

What's even more interesting is that the Wolves might be considering waiving Blount outright, instead of shopping that big expiring contract (just under $8 mil).

I don't know what Chucky has left, but I'd be willing to find out for the vet min.

If he's any worse than Dickau he's unusable.  :P

I haven't watched him too closely the last year or 2 but he is more of a traditional point guard that we could use.  At least better than Dickau I think so what not bring him to camp to see if he can beat out Hudson.

I think Chucky ( How old can you be and still be called Chucky?) is done. I'd rather save the spot for a better play to be released later.

for a vet at the end of bench who can give us 5-10 minutes a night if need be; sign him!
vet min. , tell dickau and his hottie to head to europe, chucky can be 50 a play better than him
of course this is all if hudson isn't cut out to be where he is

I would have liked the addition of Chucky Atkins better if it was by trading for his non-guaranteed contract for Walker and Tony Allen and then cutting him, thereby opening up a couple of roster spots and saving millions and millions of dollars to be spent on mid season additions.

The Chucky Atkins of 3 years ago would've been a solid bench pickup for this team.  The 2009 edition isn't worth it.  I'd say keep the spot open, but if not, at least Dickau is used to being slow.

i'd take a flyer on chucky, worst case scenario we can waive him if a better option comes along

This is getting interesting, some interesting (or rather amusing) names will be rumored to be here by training camp:

Chucky Atkins
Antoine Walker
Dan Dickau
Robert Swift
Mark Blount???? :D

What else can you ask for the final week of the offseason?? ;)
