By the way...Chucky could be a good 5-10min insurance PG.

its fun..

i agree but in serious bussiness
we all can say yay for one of that backups
ove moore and starbury or not

specially when we have locked sheed and marquis

p.s. i am VERY worried abour kg injury
seems like everyone is pulling an arenas here

Worried about KG too, particularly about those reports about staples in his tendons and stuff... (who knows if they are true?)

But the story of the season will be Marbury and Blount playing together for the Utah Flash!! ;D (with Toine as backup point (or "pint") forward  ;)

This is getting interesting, some interesting (or rather amusing) names will be rumored to be here by training camp:

Chucky Atkins
Antoine Walker
Dan Dickau
Robert Swift
Mark Blount???? :D

What else can you ask for the final week of the offseason?? ;)

I think the first four options are realistically being considered by the C's.

I don't know if you are kidding or not, but it took me back to earlier in the decade when the Celtics had to practically beg players to come aboard (Shammond Williams? JR Bremer? Bimbo Coles? Grant Long?).  I LOVE the fact that the Cs are now in a position where they can pick and choose....
Celtics fan for life.

Remember when Payton didn't want to come here...or even Travis Best in 2002 or 03 I think.

It's funny I mentioned Payton in this thread when in fact his coming to the C's meant the exit of Chucky in that trade. Also to notice how life is so curious sometimes, Chucky came here in the famous 3 team (or where there more :D) that brought Sheed from Portland to Detroit ::)

"The Celtics became role players in the biggest deal made before yesterday's NBA trading deadline, using Chris Mills's $6.6 million contract to facilitate a three-team trade that sent the Hawks' Rasheed Wallace to the Pistons.

Boston acquired guards Chucky Atkins and Lindsey Hunter, a first-round draft pick this year and $3 million (the maximum cash compensation allowed) from Detroit, and sent starting point guard Mike James to Detroit and injured forward Mills to Atlanta.

In addition to Mills, the Hawks acquired center Zeljko Rebraca, guard Bob Sura, and a conditional first-round pick from the Pistons.

(...)I like Chucky Atkins and his experience," said Celtics director of basketball operations Danny Ainge. "He's been a starting guard on a playoff team. I like who he is as a person and I think he'll be a big help to us"

Chucky's barely played in the past two years, but he HAS to be a better option than Dickau.

I guess the good news is that at least by extending a camp invite to Dickau, Ainge is at least considering adding another PG to the team, whereas a week or so ago it looked like he might have been content to roll as-is.  I bet he'll at least look at some tape from last year and think about extending an invite.

Some good all articles about Chuck when he was a Celtic:

"You look at all the good teams around the league, all the playoff teams, and everybody thinks the star of the team, the captain, is the one who has to show all the leadership," said Paul Pierce. "That's bogus. It comes in all forms. You've got a guy like Chucky who's well respected on this team. He's another veteran who's been through the wars. He's helped me out tremendously. He's eased a lot of pressure and helped me get my points across. It was what me and [Williams] and [Walker] all used to do, be a combination of leaders."

"If the Celtics are to regroup, recall how to play well as a team and what it takes to win, Atkins will be the most vocal reminder. Atkins took on that task in Atlanta last Saturday, while the Hawks dismantled the Celtics. Thoroughly disgusted by the selfish play he saw at Philips Arena, the one-pass-and-shoot mentality of his teammates, Atkins spoke up during a first-half timeout. He lashed out at his teammates, reminding the Celtics what they could do."
