Pierce, coming out of Kansas, was never seen as a "savior" type player.
I think his play and his career has actually been a surprise.
I think through hard work and determination, Paul turned himself into a franchise type player.
You don't think so? I know that I was *very* psyched when Pierce fell to 10th. He was projected as a top-3 pick, and then teams kept passing on him. I absolutely expected great things out of him, probably more out of him than any pick in the past 15 years other than maybe Ron Mercer (who was a decent player, but never lived up to his potential).
I felt the same way, Roy. I knew when first watching him that he was going to be a key piece if we were to ever be relevant again...but you know...Pitino was the coach at the time.
Once we threw Pitino's sorry anus to the curb, things started to take off for Paul.
