Great signing for the Spurs, and at a really good price!

They are really stacked up for next season. If they stay healthy they will be a monster in the West.

Nice signing -- Spurs role players on the wing were looking weak defensively and on the boards. Keith Bogans gives them good service in those areas.

They're really loaded. They've done as nice job this off-season.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't see Bogans as a difference maker.  He's decent depth, but I doubt he sees a lot of minutes.

Agreed.

He's definitely an end of the bench player.

Too bad we didn't sign him. That probably means we'll trade for Nocioni.

How do you link the two?  I don't see any evidence that we'll probably trade for anybody.  Bogans was a low cost move for an end of the bench type of player.  A trade for Nocioni would require taking on $20 million over the next three seasons (not counting next year), for a player who would immediately impact our rotation.

While I like Nocioni, and have actively advocated for the team to acquire him, I see no evidence that he'll be here.  Our big man rotation is solid, meaning Nocioni would primarily get minutes at the backup 3.  I'm not sure the team will want to pay $7 million per season to fill that slot, especially when Marquis Daniels is more than capable of backing up Pierce.

one could argue it was unclear what kind of impact bowen would have when the spurs signed him, and we know how that turned out.

i think the most important point in the article is about the competition created in their training camp, and the resulting depth that's likely to ensue. the spurs will have injuries, just like the celtics will. money seems to be the only thing standing in the way of signing the bogans' and pavlovic's of the world in an effort to push our unproven young players. right now on the wing, it's marquis daniels (hardly the beacon of health) or bust. i think that's a shame.

bogans can shoot and defend without turning the ball over. i'd like that in our 4th wing.
