I love Delonte. I met him a couple of times. really good guy who always seemed willing to take that extra second to be a person and not a star.
That said, if he is released or bought out of his contract because he can't maintain his mental health and it is becoming a distraction in Cleveland, which I assume is the only reason the Cavs would release him or buy him out, I don't want him here.
Listen, I'm bi-polar too and at a young age it is very difficult, due to the stigma of mental illness and it's perceptions, especially growing up in poorer less educated neighborhoods, to admit that this is something that effects you. You fight it and self medicate thinking alcohol or weed or drugs is normal in making you feel better. But it's not and only exacerbates the situation.
For young, strong, athletic individuals that can do just about anything physically to admit they have a mental issue and then go through the due diligence of changing your entire lifestyle so that one can remain mentally stable is difficult to the point of near impossibility.
And at that stage of the condition, people tend to make horrible employees and only bring more problems and drama and instability to a situation. If Delonte is still at that progression of his condition, stay away from him because the net effect will be a negative.
