Should be a great game.  There is no doubting that the Jets played a very very good game last week against the Texans.  The Pats didnt look great in their last game (at least in the first half).

A lot of subplots in this game:

1.
How's Brady's knee? In the first half last week he looked tentative and had a bit of happy feet whenever people were near him.  As a result, his passes were not nearly as accurate or crisp as we have become accustomed to.  In the second half of the game, he certainly looked much better, much more accurate.  Curiously missing were any attempted long throws - a staple of the first season with Moss.  This may have been a product of the injury, it may have been a product of the defense.
Ron Jaworski recently opined that Brady isnt following through with his passes, as a result in a lack of confidence with the injury.  Carson Palmer before the season discussed the knee injury and the confidence issue.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/09/20/jaworski-brady-isnt-following-through/

The Jets generated a TON of pressure last week on the QB.  The o-line will be tested in this one.

2.
How will the Pats D look without their recently annointed leader, J Mayo.  This is a horrible stretch to be without Mayo, but looking just at today, the Jets have Leon Washington who is incredibly proficient in space.  He will likely see the ball a lot in screens, draws, and quick passes.  The Jets also have a 'wildcat' of their own, with Brad Smith who has done some damage against the pats in the past.

3.
The Jets trash talk.  This has recently gotten to unprecidented levels (IMO).
We have comments about not kissing the rings, wanting to embaress the Pats, wanting to be (hit) around Brady's legs, Bart Scott saying he is ready to punch Patriots if needed ("If Kerry needs someone to back him up, I'll be right there to throw the first punch."

As a fan, I am even more amped about this game as a result of all of the trash talking by the Jets.  Hopefully the Pats respond with a great game.

One subplot will be to see which Darrelle Revis shows up against Moss.

In their first meeting, Moss torched Revis (9 receptions, 183 yards).

Since then, in 3 games, Moss has 10 receptions for 127 yards.  (Cassel was QB for 2 of them)

Ultimately, this looks like it could be a very good game, and I would be surprised to see a blowout.

Great analysis.
I think it will be a very difficult game for the Pats, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose by a field goal.  I think the Pats D is in a bit of disarray, and am still a bit worried about Brady and his knee.  I'm hopeful, though....

Oh, and now it turns out Welker will not play.  This is going to be tough for the Pats.

Really missing Welker, (love the guy), and the Pats have been struggling for consistencey in the first half, but I think Bill and Tom's half-time adjustments will once again do the trick. The Jets' D has been a bit confusing, but they're also getting worn out from being on the field so long ... I think they may make a little noise in the first part of the thrid quarter, but the Pats will put the hammer down from there on. GO PATS!

C's fans should hate when a New England team looks old.  The Pats managed to look simultaneously old and young today.

Brady looked awful.  The knee is either still injured or it is all mental.  I cant count the number of times he was either falling away from the throw or simply failed to put weight on the front leg.  its the reason he wasnt accurate, its the reason they arent throwing anything long (except the int).

The d looked fine, and the o line did a good job keeping Brady upright in the face of a constant blitz.  This one's on Brady.

on another note, who is sick of the run to the right side on 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1.  it never (never, see Maroney in week 1 on 4th and 1) works.  they need to either go right up the middle or find a new play.  just terrible (Kaczur's attempted block was a joke)

It's not the knee.

Brady's timing was off with every one of his receivers and running backs.

I hate to say it, but the Jets defensive was the reason.

Gotta give credit to where it is due.

are you kidding?  he didnt 'decisively' throw one ball all game.  you cant throw the ball when you arent following through or standing firmly.  he was fading backwards or to a side every time (hence why he missed open guys, airmailed the ball, or simply threw crappy passes).   It's the same for all sports, in basketball, a fade away is more difficult then a regular shot, in golf, you need to be planted firmly to have your swing motion be repeatable.  Brady wasnt set, and never did set and as a result his throwing motion was all over the place.

The jets D was good, I am not taking that from them, but watching Brady reminded me of watching a rookie.  he missed more open players then he hit.  And I'll bet you it is noted by just about any of the Patriots beat writers when they discuss the game

The Jets looked like a better team today, and if the Pats keep playing like this it'll be clear that the Jets ARE a better team.

This was the first Pats game I watched in two years.  It was hard to believe it was the Pats. Mistakes, mistakes, and mistakes. They looked like an incredibly average team.

Was it just me or did Moss seem to be jogging through a bunch of his routes today when they showed the replays. He just had that very disinterested look about him today.

Brady was awful and hence the entire offense was bad.

Funny that when people start pointing to what is wrong with this team and what is different they seem to point to the defensive side and the names that are missing but, at this point, it is not the defensive side of the ball that is wrong with this team. They have actually played quite well.

I think its both the knee, timing, and all the difficulty coming back. You saw the same thing with Peyton Manning last year, it takes a while to come back to what you were. Plus Brady's knee surgery was a more serious procedure.

Great game. Pats look bad two games in a row. I'm happy.
