Okay, so it is Sunday 7:50pm ET and the football weekend isn't over yet (Aaron Rogers still to play later tonight and show, once again, why he should've been picked above Alex Smith and of course our beloved Pats still to play Monday).  So, even though the weekend isn't over, I can't help posting about football (in the spirit of this topic: http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=31064.0)

So here's my question: which football player surprised you the most so far?  Either positive or negative surprise.

For me, I have to go with Drew Brees.  6 TDs.  Wow.

Celtics fan for life.

For me it to was Drew Brees... But WHAT suprised me the most not WHO was Brandon Stokely's 87 yard TD reception to win the game for the Broncos... That was CRAZY!

If I'm a Carolina Panthers fan right now, I have some serious concern about my quarterback situation.

My favorite play of the day was the catch by Camarillo. He basically caught the ball with his legs. Pretty funny, though the Fins were crap overall.

Not surprising to see Ryan eat them up since the Fins were stacked against the run, shutting down Turner.

Don't get me wrong, six touchdowns in a game is CRAZY, but...

When I looked at the schedule and saw Brees and the Saints offense versus the Lions defense, it was almost a "Hide the women and children" type of situation. No stat line Brees could come up with would have surprised me.

TPs all the way around, as all those caught my eye today, particularly the Stokely play. One thing no one has mentioned yet was London Fletcher for the 'Skins. 18 total tackles?!? Nuts.

Cowboys, Giants, Vikings, Jets all looked good.

Panthers, Bengals, Cardinals and Jay Cutler (so far) really disappointed me today.

Yeah, I hear you on that.

As to Cutler.  Man, he looks absolutely awful.  Too bad for Rodgers that he doesn't have a better O-line.

I agree. I hate Cutler after this offseason stuff anyway, but even objectively, 2 of his 3 INTs have been completely indefensible reads/throws. The one play by the D lineman was just a really impressive individual effort, but the other two picks were garbage. I like this Green Bay team a lot to be honest. 6-10 seems way too low for this group. They tackle well, are fairly disciplined on D, and if the O-Line improves they could be a wildcard playoff team no one wants a piece of in the NFC.

At least this night, Rodgers looks like a vastly superior quarterback to Cutler. Just one game though, I'm sure Cutler will look a little better as the season progresses.

I hate Cutler because he's not using Forte and I have Forte on a fantasy team.

Tony Gonzalez in the 4th round is already paying dividends though. Holla!

I don't think the Pats are a playoff team this year. There's not a single position I feel really good about.

The d looked fine.  Once (if) Brady regains confidence and actually puts weight on his front leg, they will be fine.  His accuracy is worse then mine right now.

That was really sad ... really poor clock management, (to say the least), and just not in sync on either side of the ball. I thought Tom might pull out another miracle ending, but it just wasn't happening today. I really hate how the Pats have performed a "talent-ectomy" on their defense this year ... completely eviscerated their power, (the word "impotent" comes to mind). They're obviously betting on their offense being so "point-powerful" that it will nullify the depleted strength of the D, but today was a perfect example of just how important that defense WAS. Depressing game.

The d looked ok, but that was against a rookie QB in his second game. Sanchez looked pretty good. It kinda bothers me a little

I really don't have a problem with their defense either. They are doing quite well for having so many new players. That's two weeks in a row they kept the other team under 20 (one td last week was against the offense). I am a little worried about the offense, though. On paper, they are amazing, but they really need to get their act together if they are going to be this 'epic' offense.
