I understand ... and you have a valid point. However, that was only a part of my post, and it was made to seem that my only reason for giving them out, was to get a ton in return ... which is not the truth. I agree about Who, he has always been one of my favorites ... and I guess by applying that formula I am one of the worst. So be it ... this has been an enlightening day.

I agree that you can't worry too much about the Tommy points, or start pandering for them. The only time I let everyone know I am giving them is during the game threads. I think its pretty cool everyone chats during those, and I enjoy the people being there, so what the heck. Aside from that, the only milestone I am concerned with is getting that first start. So close I can taste it!

He's not saying you're the worst either :P

We, love, you. Nick, tell him you love him.

Now shut up and go prepare for the game. Buy cookies, milk, etc. ;)

Sometimes I make a bunch of threads and comments and I work on putting some fun, positive, and engaging stuff out there and I get like 2 TPs, but then I think maybe it's just cause of one edgy comment I made, and sometimes it gets in my head that I hope I'm getting TPs for the good stuff as much as the bad, but we'll never know and that's just my own issue to deal with. Sometimes I wonder if people give out TPs for work and insightfulness and whatnot as much as they do for all the "Laker suck" type stuff, cause it should go both ways at least somewhat
You make a good point. You're an excellent poster and I like your style. But I have to say I do think that giving TPs for saying something disparaging about the Lakers or most any Lakers personality or anyone the Celts are playing is extremely valid.

Valid points from both of you. Too bad only one TP can be given since you somehow have the same username???
Just give the tp to me. That other poster is just a wannabe who has no idea what he's talking about and is trying to cause confusion, and takes himself too seriously. I know there's a rule here about disparaging other posters, but I thought that needed to be said.

You always keep me smiling, Eja ... one of the greats here always. And to Nick:

PEACE ... just call me selfish, I won't argue anymore ... it's not worth losing your friendship over. And to be completely obnoxious ... TP's for all!!

In keeping with the trend that giving TPs get you TPs... What do you think I just gave you Bahku?

A. Celtics Season Tickets
B. A Coke
C. Nothing

or

D. A Tommy Point

I'll trade you for the tickets, Matt! ;)

You guys are a little too absorbed in this blog. Tommy Point Giving doesn't need a "Philosophy". Nor does it merit an internet duel.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Everything merits an internet duel :P

Internet duels are awesome, they make the world go 'round!

(See what I did there? Turned your smart words into another pointless duel!)

I'm 100% with you here Rondo.  Way too much energy has been spent on TPs...and I'm certainly as guilty as anyone, making TP lists and starting a thread dedicated to read=ching TP milestones, but based on how much turmoil the [dang] things cause, I stopped participating in those very threads.  I just thought it was fun, but it ended up being some crazy status symbol.

I'm still a fan of having the TPs, but let's please take them (or give them) with the grain of salt that they are.
Yup

I should specialize in making issues out of people making issues out of making issues.

I don't know about you guys, but this lil' bit of drama every now and then is what keeps me coming to places like this. It's normal human nature to argue about things every now and then.

And let's not turn Tommy Points into something bad.

I proudly state that I'm very happy with every TP I get, and I sincerely think they help in making people better posters, since it pushes people to be smarter, better and more kind to each other.

Hurrah for TP's and may all of us spend and receive many more.

Personally, I'm a believer that everybody has a philosophy about everything. Unless you do things or just make decisions based on "just cuz" then you have a philosophy. I do things I do and make decisions the way I do because I have a philosophy, an ideology, a reasoning behind them.

I'm not sure because I have a certain philosophy about why I do something that that means I'm too absorbed in something. I have a philosophy of following rules, it doesn't I'm too absorbed in law or righteousness.

Strange as this may seem, I agree with Nick here ... while this may seem like a "soft-target" subject, feeling deeply and convicted about something is not a bad thing ... it's actually the biggest reason why I respect Nick, and why this hit me as strongly as it did. For while we may see this from completely different angles, we are both convicted about our views, and such discussions very often bring about more understanding and communication than if people are always agreeing about everything. Most of the best friends I have here, were people I actually had arguments with originally, and came to understand them and respect them through just such situations as this.
