Now that he's been freed by Memphis, I wonder if there's any chance Navarro would come back to the NBA, perhaps with the Cs. Certainly our salary cap situation wouldn't help, but the guy can play....

He'd be a great fit here.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
Isn't he more of a SG than PG?  I like Navarro and think he can ball, but I think a true PG would be a better fit for the team.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

1. We can't afford him for sure
2. Eddie is still with us, and he is a proven threath of the bench any time, and I would put my money on E any time
3. I hate Spain :)

First of all, I am from Spain (but i live in California) and i've seen Navarro playing for Barcelona before he came to the NBA and during his rookie year in Memphis and, even though he can play, he is more a sg than a pg, so i don't think he is the answer for the backup pg position. He reminds me of Eddie House but more inconsistent and worse defender. He can win a game for you because he has no fear and he likes the pressure but i don't see him as a good fit in this team. Besides, i think he is making tons of $ in Barcelona, so i don't think coming back to the NBA is in his plans anymore. If we were talking about Rudy Fernandez i would say go for him but no to Navarro. Go Celtics!!

Since the Grizzlies decided to sign Iverson (how sad :-[) They withdrew Juan Carlos Navarro's qualifying offer. Making him an Unrestricted Free Agent.

In his only NBA season, Navarro averaged 10.9 points and 2.2 assists in 82 games in 2007-2008. After his rookie season, the six-foot-three, 170-pound guard returned to Spain to play with F.C. Barcelona.

I think if the C's can find a way to or convince him to come back to the NBA, I think he would be an excellent back up Point Guard.

I think he would be willing to come off the bench for the Celtics, rather than the 2007-2008 Grizzlies.

He's a veteran, played against the best players all over the world, and his skills set would work well in the kind of system that the C's run.

what do the the rest of the CB's think?????????

Yep.  We need a backup PG, and currently have 1 open roster spot.
God bless and good night!

Navarro is not available. He has a very good contract, is the star of his team and is living in his home region. He tried the NBA (lost some money in the process) and didn't have a nice experience in the Grizzlies due to their losing record. So no, he is not an option, plus Danny would have to pay some millions to free him from FC Barcelona (see Rubio case)

To Makaveli, I think that saying "I hate Spain" is not a very nice comment. Imagine I said I don't want the C's to sign a Croatian player because I dislike this country based on a basketball game or something like that...it's offensive and makes little sense

Yes, it is that simple. He is not available because he is earning much more in Europe (which is totally fair as he is the best SG out of the NBA).
He mentioned on the papers that he wanted to try the NBA and proving he could play there. Now he does not feel the need of going back to the US, so he will probably remain in Barcelona 7 or 8 years more.

He is not a PG at all. In Spain only plays the point guard in the last minutes when they desperately need to score. I would love to have Navarro on the Celtics (he is by far my favourite player) but that dream will not come true.
