ESPN predictions mean nothing.

I submit for you're consideration the 2008 finals predictions made by ESPN's panel of NBA experts. It was salvaged only by Tim "Last Man Standing" Legler... save for his wisdom, the talking heads got it COMPLETELY wrong. So whatever if only 9% of these idiots think we can win. They gave us a smaller chance before, and we were already in the finals.

EDIT: I've actually read the article now... pretty good piece. I'm pleased with ESPN's effort on THIS ONE.... but the rest of their work is highly suspect.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

So we spank Stern's Lebron binky and meet the evil Lakers in the Finals.

Celtics win it all in 5, making Kobe cry again.

Rondo is the Finals MVP for number 18.

ESPN stands by and acts incredulous. How can this be?

Rondo is the Final's MVP?

I have to question anyone who completely discounts the Cavs' chances as being an uber-homer. They had the best record in the league last year. As much as people don't want to believe that Shaq can work out -- newsflash -- it might (though I hope it won't).

Denial is a wonderful coping mechanism though.

They don't beat top teams on the road.  End of Story.

I have absolutely ZERO doubt in my mind that if the Cs are healthy, they'll win number 18.

What is most glaring in the predictions is their anonymity.  No one has the cahungas to put his/her name next to his/her prognostication.  Zero accountability.  At least their predictions in the past had names associated with it.

To me this is a great omen.  It's like Corso picking against you in college football.  They are almost always wrong.  Thanks ESPN.   ::)

10% of ESPN "experts" pick the Celtics to win the 2008 Finals.  9% of ESPN "experts" pick them to win the 2010 Finals.  I feel pretty good about our chances.

And why not? I think he has an excellent chance at it....provided we are 'in'.

He has a chance.  I wouldn't necessarily say an excellent one.

Depends on who we play. If we're playing against the Lakers, not good. They have too many big shot blockers and that bothers Rondo. Plus they hide Kobe on him and that will hurt the perception.

Now if we play San Antonio, Denver, Dallas, or New Orleans I think that the chances are much higher.

9% pick C's to win?  Translation: 91%  of ESPN prognosticators are idiots.

Tony Parker?  Chauncey Billups?  Jason Kidd?  Chris Paul?
I don't think any of those guys will give Rondo an easy time in the finals.  Maybe Kidd because Rondo will probably just blow by the old dude.  His best chances are on Derek Fisher in my opinion.
But my original point was just that I doubt he's gonna play better than KG, Paul, AND Ray.
