The argument that if a player won titles then he is greater then his statistically equal counterpart does hold water, but only to a degree. I have played with some great athletes, at our level anyway, who were like Jordan and just would not let their team lose. The argument can be made that those type players are greater. The thing is though, basketball is a team sport and if you are going to argue that then you really have to break down the rest of the team.
Personally, and I watched a lot of it, I thought that for many years Pippen was the 2nd best player in the game and as I used to call him "the best player from 11 feet up" but he never got credit for it. The two players that I can think of who could have ever done a very good job of guarding MJ one on one were Michael Cooper and Pippen. Of course, Pippen never had to but I think if he had there would have been more debate about his overall contribution to those great Bulls teams.
