Last night I went to the UNC alumni game in Chapel Hill.  Great event, awesome game with incredible talent on and off the court.  They unveiled the championship banner at halftime, and Jordan was honored for making the HOF in the second half.

One thing was awry though - Rasheed was on the pregame roster, but was mysteriously absent from the game and arena.  No announcement was made and the liveblog from the game mentions that no one knew why he wasn't there.  It's a shame, I was hoping to get some good pics and impressions to post here.

So...anyone have any idea where Sheed might've been Friday night?  Was his flight delayed, was he kidnapped by jealous Dukies, or is it just Sheed being Sheed?  Actual information and wild half-baked conspiracy theories are equally welcome.

Surprise me.

PS Highlights from the game if you're interested - make sure to watch Vince Carter's sick dunk at 2:30

3:16, good to see Stackhouse can still get up.  Man I wish we got him  ::)  Did he even get net?

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Must have been a fun game to see.  Looks like MJ could have out run Stack still.

Where was Joe Forte?  ;D
Yup

Haha, yeah Stack is slowin down - he did have a couple decent dunks in warmups though.  I do wish we'd taken a look at Sean May - he was surprisingly trim and agile, laid down some dunks and dropped 2 or 3 (college) 3-pointers.  And Danny Green was maybe the best player on the court ([dang] you Cleveland!)

Joe Forte sold me some discount popcorn out of a trash bag in the parking lot.  I was kicking myself later when I found out Matt Doherty was charging less around the corner.  ;)

No Eric Montross?!?!

He was there but he didn't play, along with guys like Hubert Davis, George Lynch, Lennie Rosenbluth, Jordan, Hansborough (injured), etc.  Game was restricted to current pros (including Europe, D-League, etc)

Sheed was at home, working on his "This-is-how-I-will-look-when-we-beat-the-Cavs-in-the-ECF" routine. Yup.

How did Ed Cota (my all time UNC point guard) do?

Sheed doesn't have time for things like this, he's preparing for the run to number 18.

Sheed has been working out in Boston, it was in the Marquis Daniels presser.

I love Eddie Cota too, wish he'd been able to stick in the NBA.  He got 4 pts, 3 ast and a steal, but nothing spectacular.  Full box score is here:

After a little more Googling, word is Sheed couldn't make it out due to last-minute travel issues.  So I guess the mystery is solved.

Sheed was paying a visit to his cousins on his home planet, and asked me to pass along his apologies for missing the event. He does promise, though, to bring back souvenir sheggeldozzles for every Celtics fan who lost his/hers in Obama's takeover of private industry.
