GAME OVER 4 Tony. He was and still is useless, its time to move on. And If both (Bill and JR) fail blame it on Doc for running Pierce & Allen to the ground, and for a wasted a year not developing JR & Billy.

So let me see if I have this right? If JR and Walker suck this year, I mean just don't have the talent or intelligence to be NBA players, we need to blame Doc for using Allen and Pierce late last year in extended minutes to win games because of a lack of KG, for not developing JR and Walker last year when it is more likely that they sucked as NBA players even worse than this year?

Isn't it more likely that they just aren't that good if they don't develop and get playing time this year and that Danny erred in selecting them, though in truth it's pretty much a crap shoot to get an NBA caliber player when drafting 30 and lower?

Players that are really good force a coach to play them. You have to be ready to play if you get time and you have to bust your ass in practice or D-League or where ever you are. Nothing gets handed to NBA players they have to earn it. Both those guys should be trying to land starting spots or at least serious rotation minutes, not just trying to make the team.

These guys aren't bumps. We know Billy belongs, and JR is very talented and will get his shot this year. But whats maddening is the wasted year. This season will basically be a redo of their rookie year. Blame it on Doc. Pierce & Allen had nothing left come playoff time. But this is a new season.

These 2 have shown nothing. TA showed more his rookie season than these 2. Even NBA scrubs are very talented, but that doesn't mean they have enough talent for the NBA. Sometimes their talent is merely good enough for the Dev league or summer league.

This season is not a redo of their rookie year because they have been working with the team now for a year.

And Billy Walker will be younger this year than Tony was in his first year.  Jeesh!

Not to mention that our team was awful during most of Tony's first few years in the league, so it was much easier to get him minutes, thereby giving him more of a chance to shine.

He's had his chances after the KG trade, too.. He just lacks the skill and confidence after those knee injuries, I think.

Who cares? Anybody beyond the 10th man is inconsequential unless there's a long-term injury.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Blame Doc for what?  Game time is not the time for guys who have no clue what they're doing to be put on the court.  That's what practice is for.  And what makes you think that even if Doc started them for the entire season, that they'd be any better than they are right now?  If young guys want experience they either go to the D-league, or they go to a lousy team.

How do we know Bill Walker belongs?  He's played hardly any minutes in blow-out games.  It's even worse for Giddens because he's got at least 4 guys ahead of him for his position.  Neither of these guys are talented enough to enter our rotation, and that's all there really is to say.

Any talk of Giddens and Walker getting real minutes or backing up anybody is just unrealistic.  They are significantly less talented than Tony Allen and Scal at this point in their careers (they're only sophomores for crying out loud) and will probably remain on the inactive until they prove otherwise.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Because he isn't going to be an NBA player.  Just another small SG project like Allen Ray or Pruitt.

Rather leave the roster spot open to add a real NBA player if one shakes out.

For what?

To have a 15th warm body?

What's the point?

Unless there is a chance that the 15th contract handed out by the Celtics has a chance to actually contribute, why offer it?

Leave the roster space.  Every year, players shake out.  And with the economy the way it is, I don't see the trend ending.
