The talk around town suggests Don Nelson is interested in discussing a trade with the Dallas Mavericks involving the disgruntled Stephen Jackson.

Nelson may be interested in dealing with guard for a package of expiring contracts.

Nellie may also be willing to part ways with guard Monta Ellis due to the coach's interest in giving rookie Stephen Curry plenty of playing time.

The part of the article I'm interested in is this Nellie may also be willing to part ways with guard Monta Ellis due to the coach's interest in giving rookie Stephen Curry plenty of playing time....

Maybe we could use our expirings to acquire Monta Ellis, or if Ellis gets traded to the Mavs they would have a log gam at the guard positions so maybe they would have to cut Barea and we could sign him.

Don't know if any of this could happen  but I would really like to have Ellis or Barea as our backup pg... If not Carlos Arroyo would do if he hasn't already signed with Chicago.

The Mavericks just signed Barea to a two year contract. Why would they cut him?

To make room for Monta Ellis if they were to acquire him in a trade with Jackson... I did not know that they just signed him to a two year contract... Thanks for the heads-up nickagneta.

They would more than likely include him in the trade to GSW since his second year is a team option and GSW could just not pick it up and treat it as an expiring contract, which is what they are looking for.

That is true but they are also looking for more playing time for Stephen Curry therefore they'd want to get rid of a guard and not trade one for another.  But you're probably right... I would just like to have one of them as backup pg.

Barea is my boy. I'ld love to see him in Green. I watched some of his games at Matthews in person and was always amazed at his game. I just don't see a likely scenario where he could be here.

Yeah... It probably was just wishful thinking by me... I just wanted to see if anyone though there was a way for us to get either of the two... Also does ne one know if there is any truth behind the Arroyo to Chicago rumor?

NO. Don't like Barea. I don't know if it's b/c he has stubby arms or can't dunk or what. But I'd much rather see Stephen Jackson or Jason Terry here if a blockbuster type trade was made with those 2 plus Monta Ellis etc.
Can't stop, Rondo!
