Maybe Iverson will end up in green
And this would be good why?
I seriously hope that was sarcasm on your part.
um, that's why he has the smiley rolling it's eyes lol.
can someone enlighten me as to how the heck Chris Wallace still has a job? Yeah, i didn't think so . . .
Gotcha, didn't realize the eyes were rolling. I knew you were smarter than that! Guess I need to freshen up on my emoticons.
Well like others have said, he's good at keeping payroll down and taking the bad publicity hits for the organiztion. Other than that, I have asked this question since 1997.
Chris Wallace is the best spin doctor in the league. I mean, he's taken the heat on behalf of ownership for how many bad trades? Remember him trying to convince us all that Vin Baker just needed to come back home and he'd be a great center for us? How it was like getting the equivalent of four first-round draft picks for Pau Gasol (Javaris Crittendon, Marc Gasol, and two high-20s picks from LA)? He keeps spinning and spinning and spinning; recall that BS from a few weeks ago about how the fact the Grizzlies will have NO FREAKING SCOUTS is all fine and dandy, won't hurt things in the least?
I mean, has it ever been more transparent that ownership is trying desperately to sell and doesn't give a rats' ass about bringing in talent? And Chris Wallace is the best GM in the world at SELLING THAT!
When your team hires Chris Wallace, you know that ownership is incredibly cheap, doesn't care much about the basketball product, and is looking to sell out ASAP.
It's weird, Wallace also somehow seems to have no ego. Not only has he always been willing to take the heat (and be the punchline of eight million Bill Simmons jokes) about all these horrible trades, this was also a guy who seemed to have no problem getting demoted here when Danny Ainge came aboard. I would wager that there is not a single other GM in the league who would stay aboard - with a lesser role, even if he nominally kept the "GM" title - when a new person was hired to take his job. Not necessarily a bad thing, but that's a guy who doesn't seem to have a huge ego.
