Watson was offered a 3 year/$4.5 million contract from Golden State and is reportedly not crazy about it. His option is a $1 million qualifying offer and unrestricted free agency next year.

Orlando apparently offer Golden State a backup guard, cash and a first round pick for Watson that was turned down.

Could the Celtics get a package together that might entice Golden State? Obviously with Ellis, Acie Law and now Stephen Curry, Golden State isn't going to want to add another PG, I think. But they might need help and depth at the 2,3 and 4 spots.

Would you do a package of Tony Allen, a future first rounder and some cash for Watson in a sign and trade for $2.5 million per for 3 years? would you try for something bigger and try to get Maggette as a backup SF? Like Maggette and Watson for House, Scal, Allen and a first rounder?

That last trade would cost us future money but this would be the team going forward

Rondo/Watson/Hudson
Allen/Daniels/Giddens
Pierce/Maggette/Walker
KG/Baby/Williams
Perk/Wallace

Something to think about at least.

I'm not familiar with Watson's game. That said, I can't imagine trumping that Orlando offer. Tony, a 1st and cash ought to net more at the trade deadline.

#18 nuff said.

But it would mortgage our future. We still have to re-sign  (Rondo & Ray) in 2010, and (Pierce & Perk) in 2011. I like Corey as a player, but is salary is tooooooooooo high

Cool a 2k lineup, I'm down.  :)

By the way, how many minutes are the starters expected to play with such a lineup?

As few as possible. Hypothetically, if we had that bench they could probably win some games alone, without the starters. Our main problem last year (other than missing KG) was that everyone was run down by the time the playoffs started.

I don't care about stats, so I would be perfectly content if everyone except Rondo and Perk played less than 30 minutes.

So if the Starters are all playing something like 30 minutes are we to expect all the guys on the bench to be happy with just 18 minutes a night? What about during the play-offs when the rotation gets shortened? Not every player is willing to sacrifice for the greater good.

Ok, I'll admit I didn't see Maggette in the original post, but obviously he missed his chance to be here and likely won't get another one. However, as it stands, with the guys we have on the bench (including Marquis) not one's going to get a ton of minutes, anywhere. Baby's gonna miss out on more minutes than he did last year now that we have Rasheed. Why would Marquis and Rasheed come here if they weren't expecting to sacrifice? Baby resigned, and I think he'll be alright with his slightly reduced minutes.

What I'm trying to say is that I don't think the team will self-implode simply because we added Watson, and in the playoffs it's almost always expected for starter numbers to rise, and the bench minutes to fall. I'm sure every NBA player understands that.

It just seems like people feel like we need a 20mpg backup for every position, a 10 man rotation. Most good teams just need an 8 man rotation(a backup point, wing, and big). Since Doc likes to mass substitute a 9 man rotation (what we have) might be perfect for us, but 10 is probably going to deep into the bench. As of right now House, Daniels, and Sheed (at the expense of BBD) are going to find the minutes they want. After those three we just need 2 guys who can play a solid 10-12 minutes a game, BBD is one of those guys.

I actually had mentioned him as someone I thought the Cs should consider way back at the beginning of the summer.

He is young and seems to be talented, though it's hard to tell on the Don Nelson Warriors. Kind of like judging players from a D'Antoni team. The systems are meant to highlight a certain style of play.

But saying that, I thought C.J. might be a good risk and a young player to develop behind Rondo. I haven't seen him play enough to know for sure. I wondered why there was no movement on him all summer.
