This may sound funny, and it kind of is, but in a sad way, because i'm serious also.

But is there any way Tony Allen can become the first NBA player to be traded to the D-League???

Cant the Celtics assign him to their D-League affiliate, and then give them permission to make a trade with other teams in the D-League??

I say trade Tony Allen to the D-League for Randy Livingston, he's been tearin' up the D-League for a lil while now, and he's a point-guard, and a veteran, and most importantly he's not Tony Allen!

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.

Tony has too much experience to be assigned to the D-League while a member of the Celtics.  Wouldn't work.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

Shaun Livingston had just as much experience but played in the Dleague after his injury. What's the difference?
Can't stop, Rondo!

I don't think Livingston was attached to a roster at the time.  Players who have their rights held by an NBA team can only play in the D-League in their first two seasons.

TA will have trade value come trade deadline.

Or, more to the point, his contract will.  Teams will want it to get below the next years salary cap or tax line.

Let's just trade him to the Lakers so he can cause this much discord on their fan boards.

This thread is hilarious because the op is dead serious and all of the people here would do something like this in a heartbeat.

I think that 2.5 expiring can be decent at the deadline.

TA's contract is valuable, even though he is worthless as a basketball player.  He should be packaged with Scal and either Walker or Giddens at the deadline for a player like Nocioni or James Posey.  In the meantime, he should be required to earn his pay by mopping the floor or working concessions in the Garden.  I hope I never see him on the floor during a Celtics game again, unless he's fouling jump-shooters and dribbling off his foot as a member of the opposing team.

i agree his contract has some value. but i also think he has some value as a basketball player. there is no doubt allen, even with injuries, can provide defense and some offense.

the problem, at least for indiana, is his inability to mature past the thug-period of his life. he is just a terrible human being it seems, to the extent that it now outweighs his nba talent.

but perhaps someone will hold their nose and take him and his salary someday. heck, most of us accepted marbury last year.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Is it possible that regular season Tony might not be such a bad thing. He'll help keep down Ray and Paul's minutes some, which will help them in the playoffs when they take Tony's minutes away. :)

How could a d-league team afford his contract?

The hate for TA is ridiculous. Wasn't he our 2nd leading scorer off the bench last year? Didn't the team give up -3.3 points/100 possessions with him on the floor? Didn't he hold opposing sgs to 12.7 PER and opposing sfs to 11 PER?

Sure TA makes plenty of dum mistakes. But he is also a talented player and has the ability to be a difference maker in certain games if he has it going. He couldn't handle the role that we gave him last year. But this year his role will be reduced so why does everyone want to get rid of him for nothing now? Unless Walker/Giddens make big leaps in the offseason, he's clearly better then them. What's the rush to just get rid of him? It's like people who wanted to buyout Scal last year and he ended up being a good contributor to our team.

Good point. TP
