I know the reasons, I've listen to Danny... but it's hard to read this words.

@Boston Herald

“I understood what he was saying, because it was the same thing I heard from Danny. I told Danny that I would take the one-year deal. But that was it. After (talking to Pagliuca), I didn’t call them no more.”

That included Doc Rivers, who shortly after Powe’s injury pledged to do everything in his power to bring the forward back.

Rivers later told the Herald during the Orlando Summer League that he still felt that way, but also supported the team’s decision to wait and monitor improvement in Powe’s knee.

“I called him and asked him what he was going to do - were they going to keep me?” Powe said of the Celtics coach. He said he would try to convince them to keep me here for at least another year. He said he would do everything in his power, and I believed him. After that I missed his call, I missed him with my call, and I didn’t talk to him again. I was a little surprised at what happened, because I thought he would take care of me, but Danny was pretty clear about what they were going to do.”

I feel bad for Leon, I'm glad he got a contract, wish it wasn't with the Cavs but it really sounds like he was treated like crap by the entire managment. He deserved a lot better than that.

According to Danny, they offered him the exact same contract Cleveland did.  I'm sure at that point, it was too little too late, but I can see why the Celts didn't want to just give a one year deal.

100 pages by tomorrow morning?

Leon sounds like he just wasn't savvy enough to understand what was going on. It's sad to see how poorly educated so many of these athletes are. No wonder they need agents..

Good move by Danny and Steve. Especially with BBD and Rasheed coming into the fold.  Powe has torn that same knee up 3 times. I wouldn't take money out of my pocket neither for a gamble like that.  I love the kid, but he's as injury prone as they come. That knee will need some major time and it will take days for him to even come back from that, if at all.

well said, there is no place on this team for him. He's far too overrated on this board. He may never recover from his knee problems, ever, and even at full strength, he was a garbage man who grabbed boards and points due to the attention the defenses gave to KG and Perk and everyone else around him. He was a hustle player, but a poor defender. I believe Shelden Williams will fit much better in this team. To the people who say this is a bad karma move, are you kidding me! Powe would have never made it in the nba if it wasn't for danny and the celtics, he should be thankful.

Leon is out to throw punches at just about everyone he can get. He sounds bitter, and making it easier on me to highly enjoy getting his ass kicked when we play Cleveland again.

Well, I took it as meaning they actually offered that contract early in the process, but Powe didn't want it.  He wanted either a bigger deal, or a one year deal.

I think its pretty clear that Powe took it personally that the C's did not extend a qualifying offer, even though that would have made no sense for the C's to do, since it would have allowed Powe to make more money than he is making now, rehab on the C's dime, and then be unrestricted next year.

As much as I love Powe, I don't think Danny played this the way he should have, Powe just overreacted a bit...which is his right to do.  I can't say I would have reacted any differently than Powe did...but I cannot blame Danny for doing what was best for the team.

This most certainly does look bad for Danny Ainge as he tried to tie him up because Cavs had offered him contract. Why on earth didn´t he just simply take a chance on Leon when his contract was up???  Why try to jump out of the seat like Mighty Mouse to come to save the day when Cavs had made the offer??

I really liked Leon Powe and it hurts me to see him leave as I saw him as a Boston player forever. This will definitely bite us in the ass later. This aint about who is telling the truth or not.
