Leon speaks - Pagliuca and Ainge didn't wanted to wait on him

zero playing time? Does anyone remember the injuries this year? You can never have too much depth on any team, as soon as you do then something happens and you realize how important depth is.

To say Leon over reacted then you are not taking into account the type of player he is. With passionate people you get passion on and off the court.. and I much preffer that myself than a cookie cutter role player. just my opinion

Yes.  Pretty much zero playing time for a variety of reasons.  First, he might not play at all next season.  Second, KG, Perk, and Wallace are going to eat up nearly all the 4/5 minutes.  Whatever is left over will go to Baby.  Thus, if everyone's healthy, Leon isn't going to play.  If someone gets hurt, then Baby will step in and get most of the minutes, leaving a few spare ones for someone, but who is to say it'd be for Leon?  By the time he gets back Sheldon Williams may have well played himself into whatever minutes Leon would've gotten. 

So Leon really wouldn't have gotten minutes here unless a) he was healthy and b) at least two people got hurt at the same time.

I generally agree with this - the Powe/Baby choice had been looming all season.  Powe blowing out his knee made it easy (I suspect Baby would've been the pick anyway).  The only thing that stings is we could've kept Leon for the minimum, and got Shelden Williams for that price instead.  But Leon's injury and rehab means he'd mostly contribute to this year's team by applauding in a suit. 

I like Leon and hate to see him go, especially to the Cavs, but I have no problem with the decision from a basketball standpoint.

What bugs me most is that we kept Tony Allen on our team after
his knee injury and continue to hang onto him, and he is not even 1/2 the contributor that Powe was on the court.

Tony did have a contract though, which is what obviously hurt Powe the most.

I read some of the posts saying this is bad Karma, and I too agree - good things happen to good people.  What goes around, will come back around.

This is getting OLD. Ainge made the correct decision on this, Sour Grapes is all I am hearing from Powe. Ainge gave Powe his shot originally and he should be more thankful for what the C's orgination has done for him...This was a perfect business decision on Ainges part. We would probably have the same amount of griping here if we would have offered a 2 year deal to a hobbled power foward. That would have been a mistake based on last years injury fiasco.

I'm somewhat surprised because he's usually been quiet.  But since he's opened his mouth, here's what I've got to offer:

Shut the hell up.  You are 25 and have had 3 major knee injuries.  I wouldn't want to pay you either.  Get over it.

If we really would've signed him to this 2 year deal w/second year as a team option, it sounds like the lack of initial interest and Steve Pags kinda killed it. The Pagliuca stuff just sounds a little odd.

When it comes down to it, I think this will be an afterthought. We have 5 capable bigs, and another one that projects to rebound and defend pretty well when given the chance. I'd be surprised if Shelden looked as bad as POB.

I will miss Leon, but not his bad luck injuries.
I wouldn't pay for a new car with dents on it either.

I like the upside of Williams versus Powe too.
DA tried his best to sugar coat the lack of interest, but we knew he wasn't going to make an offer. DA was hoping Leon would slip through the cracks.

well said, there is no place on this team for him. He's far too overrated on this board. He may never recover from his knee problems, ever, and even at full strength, he was a garbage man who grabbed boards and points due to the attention the defenses gave to KG and Perk and everyone else around him.

not at all, as I said, leon is way to overrated on here. Even a healthy leon wouldn't play much on this year's team.

You do know the chunk of double doubles he got this year were without KG right? and if anyone is overrated on this board it's BBD. BBD was never close to Powe in talent and hustle when Powe was healthy.

Btw Danny struck gold with KG, Ray, and PP, but he's also been dumb in the past with certain moves. Moves like signing brian scalabrine to a $3 mil a year contract that's crippled our teams reserve $. You could have signed 1.5 Marquis Daniels' with that money....

I'd shake Danny's hand on this one because this was a dumb move made by the entire Celts organization. Really stupid like letting Posey walk. The more people doubt Powe coming back, the greater chance that "double double" game against the Celtics becomes true. The man has lived on people doubting him and it's a source of his strength. Rock on Powe cause i'll root for you wherever you end up.

If only karma really existed. Unfortunately, it is pretty clear that there is no inherent justice in the world.
