For all the complaints in this board by rich people not hiring a full time driver, at least he's doing that. The marijuana thing is really no big deal... it's just dumb for him to be streaming it. Otherwise, I could careless if he's smoking or not especially if he's not getting behind the wheel.

Rest assured, everyone, this latest episode in the Stephon Marbury show while have zero effect on his ability to land a future job.

Sure, it's not the smartest image to put out to prospective employers, but, in the end, GMs are not moralists, they're materialists--if they think he'll help their team, they'll sign him.

Everybody smokes weed, anyway.  Talk about a non-story.
Folly. Persist.

if it were his just smoking weed, i think ur right.  however, with his history of being problematic during his career and most importantly......doing this after his crazy behavior on stephtv, i think gm's are pretty reluctant to sign him

I've got no problem with Steph smoking weed as long as he's not a full-blown pothead...but I have a big problem with him recording it and posting it online.

Not only does it show terrible judgment, but stuff like that and the 24-hour broadcast is borderline "cry for help" stuff.  I hope I'm wrong but it really seems like Steph is teetering on the edge of a major breakdown and stuff like this is him acting out.  Whatever you think of Steph as a player or a person, let's hope he can get some help before he does something drastic.

Eh I think its kind of cool he has gone all truman show and just does what he wants. Its better then these guys that preach morality and then are discovered doing something horrible... he is what he is. Right now he is an extremely eccentric back up pg.

eh there are a lot of free agents out there, the offseason isn't over. I still think someone would offer him the min. I am not sure if he is interested in playing at this point.

I don't really see how this would affect anyone wanting him on their team.
I still say the best man should get the job, mental problems/lifestyle aside.
He's not under our contract, what do we care?
If he was under our contract, i doubt he would've done this on camera.
He knows the door is closed so what does he care?
It still doesn't affect the fact that i would be happy if he was currently on our team.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Like he said - he's not under contract.  NBA rules don't apply.

Also, he lives in Cali, where marijuana is prescribed medicinally.  Do you have proof he doesn't have a prescription?  I think not.

He clearly doesn't care that much about his perception - hell, he's broadcasting himself on the internet.  Get over it folks.  Most of your beloved Celtics smoke weed.
God bless and good night!

It's not the pot smoking that invokes concern. It's the fact that he's videotaping himself doing this with a camera knowingly in front of him that is airing live to tons of people. So he is deliberately ruining his value. I can't see an NBA team offering him a contract for the rest of his life at this point. He's not the worst basketball player in the world, but he's just not bright enough (and the bar is not set that high in the first place).

Just to play devils advocate, Robert Parish smoked pot back in the 80s and nobody said boo back then. And the Sheed got his nickname Rashweed for some reason. Now my theory is that Marbury longs to be a Celtic and has some of Red Auerbach's old cigar material wrapped up in rolling paper. Don't be so quick to judge. If you think he doesn't have skeels anymore, that is one thing.

True, but Robert Parish was a top player on a top team.  I bet if Pierce or Ray were caught smoking weed, most people wouldn't really care.  The only people who would care are the people who are anti-weed in the first place.

But the fact that Marbury was caught smoking now, and he admitted to it, is pretty ridiculous considering he is currently looking for a contract in one of his most controversial offseason's yet (and that's saying something).

But on top of all his bizzare recent behavior, I question whether he even has the skeels anymore to be an upgrade over Eddie.

Take this for what its worth, I understand this is essentially an anonymous fan site, but I actually can tell you for a fact that Paul smokes weed. Or at least he did as of about 3 years ago, when I partied with him.
Looking at my gucci, and it's about that time...

I too can confirm this with a story of my own.

I don't know for a fact but I would say everyone except Ray does as well (just a guess there)
God bless and good night!

I hope Marbury signs overseas sometime soon so I can stop seeing Marbury's name pop up in the "Latest Forum Topics".  Oh wait, I will still see his name, just like I see Gerald Green's from time to time.
Celtics fan for life.
