Just to play devils advocate, Robert Parish smoked pot back in the 80s and nobody said boo back then. And the Sheed got his nickname Rashweed for some reason. Now my theory is that Marbury longs to be a Celtic and has some of Red Auerbach's old cigar material wrapped up in rolling paper. Don't be so quick to judge. If you think he doesn't have skeels anymore, that is one thing.

all true, however recording yourself and allowing it to be posted online.....after the fiasco that was steph tv, it is incredibly poor timing and judgement.  not to mention he wants a contract

If teams didn't sign any pot smokers it might be hard to achieve even 7 man rosters.

And I concur 1000%.

However, I'm not aware of anyone in the Association, much less wanting to be in it...who does it publicly (or who broadcasts such activity to the world)

Josh Howard. Another poor decision maker still getting paid.
Used the N word during the national anthem, etc and said he smokes weed in the off season. Yet only Birdman has been caught?
I heard on the radio last week(espn 1370AM) a guy asked this football player what percentage of married(or taken) players cheat on the wives/gfs with groupies, etc. The player chose not to answer b/c he felt he'd be ratting out too many ppl but agreed when asked if the number was well about half. I bet that this is the same for weed in the NBA. Sorry, but a good number of these guys grew up balling on the streets, half of them lived in poor neighborhoods, so half of them smoked weed. Now they're famous and have semi-unlimited money and much easier access to the grass? Yea, half of THOSE guys smoke it. Do the math and you're looking at at least 20 active NBA players, not to mention college athletes. The ONLY NBA guy from the streets that I can say doesn't do it, just signed with our rival Cavaliers. Miss ya Powe!!!
Can't stop, Rondo!

Do you know Powe personally? Nobody knows what anybody does behind closed doors. From the streets or not. You sound like Bill O Riley!

Ok after watching those video's live I at first got the sense that he was high, but then watching the 24 hour one when he had no time to smoke made me realize something. He wasn't high he's just crazy.

Also BirdMan did not get caught smoking weed, you think you get an NBA year ban for getting caught smoking weed? He got caught for a hard drug, it has been speculated to be Heroin or Meth. That's why he got caught.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

TMZ.com posted another clip on Thursday with Marbury confessing that he was in fact doing so.

"I smoke marijuana ... yep ... you saw me," Marbury, 32, said in the clip.

"I'm not under contract ... I smoke weed occasionally. ... I'm not driving ... I'm following the rules."

True, but Robert Parish was a top player on a top team.  I bet if Pierce or Ray were caught smoking weed, most people wouldn't really care.  The only people who would care are the people who are anti-weed in the first place.

But the fact that Marbury was caught smoking now, and he admitted to it, is pretty ridiculous considering he is currently looking for a contract in one of his most controversial offseason's yet (and that's saying something).

But on top of all his bizzare recent behavior, I question whether he even has the skeels anymore to be an upgrade over Eddie.

as if his meltdown this summer wasn't enough of a deterrent, I offer exhibit A:

Now, I for one am not suggesting that usage of reefer is a sign that we should cast aside in society anyone who does such a thing (after all, I'm a liberal) but in this instance, do the Celtics need a known user of grass?  (and yes, I know this appears to be a joint....I'll let the reader/viewer decide for themselves)

I am really not buying the point of this thread. As eccentric as Marbury may be, what he does on his own time is his personal business. And to be honest, I am personally offended that so many people on this site are judging an athlete for actions OUTSIDE the court who don't harm ANYONE ELSE! Oh and back to the title of the forum: I WOULD like Marbury back.

What he's doing is specifically barred by the NBA, so it's fairly relevant to whether the Celtics would extend him a contract.  The chances of that are pretty much zero at this point.
